Which route would you take?

I'm delivering in Pompton Plains, NJ tomorrow morning. After I'm empty, I have to go into Brooklyn for a couple of pickups (yes, I know - it sucks).
Which way would you go in? I'm thinking the GW bridge, then down I-278. Looks to me like the only real alternative would be to go all the way around I-287, across the Verrazono (sp), then into Brooklyn.

The bridge immediately east of the GW is down to two lanes>traffic will be a disaster! NJ is reccomending all traffic detour to the Tapanzee>yeah it's a long way out of route but how much does sitting in traffic for hours @ the GW pay you?

The bridge immediately east of the GW? You don't mean the Verrazonno (again, sp), do you? My 1st pickup is at the river on 39th street, really close to the end of the bridge there. Knowing that, I'm leaning more towards going in that way.

No, I meant the bridge (can't find the link to the traffic warning) IMMEDIATELY east of the GW>it's where the road is really rough.....lol

Ya - this was a screwed up day. Well, still is.
I left my delivery location in Pompton Plains at 8:45. 58 miles later, I was pulling into my 1st pickup. That was at 11:15. Yup - 2.5hrs to drive 58 miles. And that was making good time compared to the 2nd stop. First off, it would've helped if they had given me the correct address. 101-01 Foster Ave is *NOT* at 1st Street (McDonald Ave). It's at 101st Street. Of course, there's no easy way to go those 100 blocks. It would've also helped if they had given me the phone number for this actual location, not the phone number for their corporate office in Manhatten. I ended up making about 30 phone calls before I finally got someone on the phone to help me. I finally arrived at the 2nd stop at 2:15pm. Yup 3 hours. In that time, I drove a total of 20 miles. So, now I'm waiting to get loaded at the 2nd stop. I'm already 1/2 way through my 14hr clock and haven't accomplished a damn thing. I made a couple of calls to my dispatcher. The first one was when I told him that if he EVER tried to get me to go to NYC again, no matter where I'm at when it happens, that's where they'll find the truck. Period. The 2nd was when I told him that there's no possible way that this load will be delivered tonight as scheduled. I'm flat-out exhausted (physically and mentally) and I'm not leaving until I take a full 10 hour break. I'll deliver it when I pull into their lot.

Screw that - unless Valium and cigarettes are part of the assigned equipment.
