Pop up camper
#13
I wanna see pics of this. I've been contemplating a camper eventually, but that'll wait until I get my new pickup in a few months. I second the notion of the Tahoe, although an Expedition would serve you well also.

That little old S-10 with a 4.3L will pull a pop up like it wasn't even there. Thats the same set up I had for years and before the Blazer came along I even towed the camper with a 4cyl Chevy Monza!
Great deal hope you enjoy it, I have lots of good memories camping w/pop up's. I have a motor home it's great cause its got everything but it sucks too! It's to big for going some places, needs to be registered and insured all the time and the worse part once you set up you can't run into town ! It's going next spring.

Mal, too bad you didnt mention 6 months ago.....I had an 87 Coleman that I let go for around 300 w/ working AC. Used it many times prior to divorce. If it rides low, like mine did, flip the axle under the springs. Might also check out PopUpPortal, a great community of pop-up owners. Ex and I did a couple gatherings with the folks from the Virginia area via this group....great community..great tips..........much like here. Manual is still available on line for that camper via the popupportal site. Enjoy it.....if you have questions please feel free to ask me, I got to know that thing well.

If you take children under the age of 20, you're roughing it, even if you're in a 43', $1,000,000 motorhome with 10 slide-outs.

I agree it's too big for most camping experiences. I see these people parked like "sheep" in so-called campgrounds right OFF the interstate! Huh? That's their idea of camping? Of 'roughing it?' Okay... what are you gonna ask for it? I know what I said.... but, I have a different reason for wanting one! lol. Actually... I'm not in the market for a Motorhome. More interested in a "Fifth Wheel." I want something I can pull behind my "tractor" from my eventual summer home in Montana, to my winter HQ's in New Mexico. I'm gonna be a "snowbird" with a power unit to lease out for a few months in the "warmer climes." But, if the price is right? Well, I am "trained" to adapt! LOL!

Hey - nothing wrong with the Monza's! I owned 2 Monza's (a 1975 with the factory 350 and a 1980 with a tiny v-8). I also had a 1977 Oldsmobile Starfire. All 3 were hatchbacks. The 1980 was the Spider. The 1975 only had 25,000 miles on it when I bought it around 1990. It ran like a dream and was in mint condition, except for a little damage from a wreck done by the previous owner. The Starfire had a 4 speed and the 231cui Buick engine. Deep-dish Cragers and 50 series tires on the rear, with 60's in the front. That thing would flat-out run and handled the backroads of WV just fine. Well, right up until I destroyed the rear end in it doing burnouts.
What do ya expect, though? I was 20 years old and newly divorced.

Monza. Hm... sounds "foreign" like Obama! Must have been a "commie" (socialist) vehicle. Sounds like you got what you deserved! LOL!!!!!

See a "specialist." But, I suspect it is a condition specific to northern climes where the inhabitants are not familiar with long, hot, summer nights.. nor even the most moderate of Winter months.
There's just something very cool about roughing it but not really.
My best night's sleep was under a log covered by a fallen tree branch in a "hostile" zone [DURING TRAINING!] The commander of the "operation" was standing right next to me as he called my name as one of the LAST to have NOT been found. Scared the heck out of him when I came up right behind him! LOL. Meaning... I just happen to LOVE "roughing it." My greatest compromise with the "New World" is to use a match now and then. LOL. In my deepest soul [I have several levels of them] I can't STAND motor homes, 5th Wheels, and campers (of any sort.) Lucky for ME.... I have (more or less) complete control over my SELF and my SOUL. Which is why I'm looking for bargains on anything that will help me get OUT of here... and into the Wild! lol. WHO you gonna TELL???
