Default what happened to common sense?

I pulled in the Jersey shore, PA rest area and noticed something strange in the car parking area.

While I give this truckers props for helping a motorists jump start their van, he looses points for not having common sense. I would have dropped my trailer so as to not block the four wheelers exit path. Cars were backing all the way back through the car parking and exiting through the truck area. Forcing cars to back up the entrance is dangerous.

At worst he could have at least stayed tighter to the curb and sidewalk on the right side to give a path for the cars.

Isn't that a pick up truck that the state uses for maintenance? Why couldn't he have done it?

This is really weird. But common sense isn't very common (haha*). Sometimes I think there exist too many idiots on the world... not only in the traffic, everywhere... but we have to live with it anyway (and sometimes they give a good laugh!). but thanks for sharing the pics. They are funny and made my day

Because HE's the one in the dayglo vest "supervising" the rescue attempt!

What? You think he carries jumper cables?

I agree that the guy should have at least "tightened" up his trailer to the curb.... but, there COULD have been a car(s) in the way at the time.

I think there's more to the story. HOW did he KNOW to pull into the car side... and that someone needed his help?

Please tell me HE didn't "back up" to the in-ramp and then go to the car side! [instead of dropping the trailer first]

Hobo, I don't think there were any cars there beforehand that kept him from being tighter to the curb. If there were, how'd the F did they get out? I believe he did back up on the in-ramp side after using the facilities and noticing someone needed help.

As far as I know our VDOT "Safety Patrol" trucks do carry jumper cables along with some tools to work on vehicles. Personally I always carry a set of jumper cables and a small cache of tools.

I saw a loaded car hauler backing down the EB lanes of I90 cause he missed his xt , I guess that Petro at the 41 was the ONLY place to stop.

The DOT worker was emptying trash bins when I pulled in, he went over to the van after it was running. I have no idea the rest of the story as I was only there for 8 or 9 minutes to potty. Any way you look at it I think he should have dropped the trailer or found somone else to jump the van assuming they were his jumper cables.

I think the reason why he was in that position was because of the location of the jump posts on that Century. They're under the driver's side of the hood, as they are on my KW. Granted, I wouldn't need to turn the truck for a jump, since I carry 70-foot jumpers (to revive a liftgate).
