I could be mistaken but aren't you dead set against Green Energy? Finding new ways to pump oil out of the ground so we can keep living in the 1900s doesn't sound like progress to me.

(btw, I'm not really a Green Energy guy. I could care less what the next big thing is. I decided 25 years ago that the solution to all our energy problems was simple. Just raise the fuel tax at the pump by 10 cents every year. By now gas would be around $6 a gallon, cars would get 60mpg, we'd import far less oil from people that hate us, alternative energy sources would be all the rage. Simple.)

Well, if you want to put it that way, perhaps, they are behind us. During WWII, we were going to win the war because "GOD WAS ON OUR SIDE". Today, we've kicked him in the rump and told him to get out. We've become a nation that's afraid to correct our kids, which gives us a generation that believes success is not getting caught with illegal drugs. Many of the big companies we have, if they were trying to start out today, they couldn't because of the "Liability" factor When a crack-head gets his finger caught in something.

In some areas, we've made progress. In other areas, we're pushing ourselves back to the stone ages.

I don't quite believe this. True... the really BIG corps got that way by exploiting labor and ignoring safety. But, there are companies started every DAY under current "regulations" and laws that are quite successful. I guarantee that anyone injured in today's workforce will be drug tested and, if shown to be on crack or anything else, will be fired without recourse.

You mean back to the time when gays were stoned to death? Protestors were dismembered? Lower class humans were bought and sold... owned... by the rich like so many cattle?

To follow along with your reasoning Windwalker, I guess God is fickle and decided he didn't like us in Korea and Vietnam. I'm not even going to touch on more recent conflicts because of the politics involved.

 

That same thought has occurred to me checking this thread.

 

I haven't checked the prices yet, on some of these materials, but I bet the recycling of these products will make it a good deal for some people. I use to scrap metals as a sideline, and still do, only on a much smaller scale. I don't know how many of these have hazmat concerns? I know dumping some of these products, require special care. Still, the more difficult meeting demand for the material, the more it would pay to recycle.
