Not illegal, but this was some cowardly punk bs, IMHO, over a roaming dog no less.
A head shot to both men?... wow... :hellno:

And I don't disagree with that either!! They got what they deserved all over a stupid ticky tack issue. Some people just can't leave well enough alone, what did the father think he was going to do against a guy with a gun? You killed my son now I'm going to kill you, yeah......right with what?

In the State of Florida, I've seen billboards saying that; "Florida residents have the right to shoot to kill". And, it's even happened in this neighborhood, that a couple of crack-heads threatened a resident in his front yard. He dropped one of them in the middle of the street, the other up the block. Twenty minutes after they put him in the squad car, he was back home and never another word about it. The guy doing the threatening does not have to be in your house, or even on your property. I'm sure it varies from state to state, but it's becoming more and more widely accepted.
The article also states that the two men had alcohol in their blood. Either that or drugs seems to be the common catalyst to more and more family violence. There are a number of couples here, that have figured out, the only time they fight is when they're drunk. They quit drinking and they find out they don't just save the cost of the beer, but also court costs, lawyers fees, and don't miss time at work.
Over a "roaming dog". And a "brother-in-law".... Sounds to me like there was no love lost in that family either. I'm guessing the dog was "the last straw". But, I wonder whose sister was married to who. Did she lose a brother and a nephew or a husband and a son?

I agree with the right to defend yourself and your property, with a firearm is necessary.
These family disputes get volatile, with a laundry list of history.
Looked to me like the lady lost a brother and nephew.
Anyway, my beef is with the head shots on family members.
I think if he would have shot the kid in the leg, the fight would have been over.

Well, anyway...tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I'm planning on being with some inlaws.
I'm leaving my gun home, but I always have an EDC. I might pack a fork as well... hide it in my boot.

That's exactly why I figure the dog was the last straw. It wasn't the dog. Something else, much bigger, was brewing for months or even years. Looking at the ages, it could have been because (of something like) the guy getting the sister pregnant, and she married him. There was a lot of hate built up for a long time. It wasn't just the dog.

It is a sad deal, but legal.
Last year, here in town there was a kid that broke into a house. When he walked in, the owner was in the living room with a 12 gauge. He shot and killed the kid. The kid's mother tried to sue the city and police dept for not arresting/convicting the man that shot her son. Nothing they could do.

It doesn't take any brains to break into a house.... And, it sounds like Mom wasn't the brightest bulb in the box either.

Wonder what Thanksgiving dinner was like in that house? What a waste.
