NY Bus Crash
#1
Gruesome....................
The media jumped all over it with how a Semi was involved, now it's looking more like the bus driver simply lost it while speeding. Police supposedly interviewed the truck driver, or at least they believe they talked to the right one, he said he was BEHIND the bus not beside it or passing it until it wiped out. Witness' say the truck wasn't involved and that the story the bus driver gave is BS. NYC bus crash driver has manslaughter conviction - Yahoo! News

I was listening to that last night on road dog. Sounds like the bus just lost control. The driver was driving too fast, and reckless.
I can't say anything about them up in NY, but the grayhounds around here drive like a ....well, a grayhound

That info was on every news source I looked at yesterday: CNN, USAToday, Fox, etc.
Not only that, but his log book was incomplete for several days prior to the crash. The FMCSA & NHTSB are reviewing the surveillance from the casino's security system.

..plenty of times I've seen them driven like a sports car, and I drop expletives outloud, thinking how they must forget they are hauling precious cargo!

And it's not JUST the precious cargo they are hauling.... but the motoring public they can damage. I mean... they weigh almost as much as a truck (if they have a full house.) Seems to me that THEY should be the ones that are "governed" at a much slower speed! No more than 65 IMHO.
A truck goes off the road and kills ONE (maybe two) drivers. Look at how many died in this "single vehicle" accident. Trucks are not "public transportation." Buses, like trains and commuter trains and airplanes... ARE! For that very reason, they have stricter HOS rules AND (supposedly) MVR qualifications. (No DUI's for instance.) How about slowing them DOWN a bit???
