Truck driver killed at Roanoke County Kroger warehouse - Roanoke.com
This was the second fatality that I'd heard about at this facility in the past few years.

There are a number of facilities that do not have enough lights in the loading/unloading area for safety. It would suggest that at 2 AM, the driver doing the backing did not see it was occupied. That says it was dark, and too dark for safe operation. The facility should get a fine for that, but they won't. I've seen a few other places where that came close to happening. I've also seen a couple that had a trailer back into a truck parked at the dock. Nearly had one back into mine once. But the driver was looking out his window and I turned on my lights. That stopped him. The lack of lighting in the dock areas is a safety hazard in many locations.

That's terrible.
![]() There's a reason why companies are so big on safety. Me personally, I call it common sense (I understand that not everyone has it). There's also another reason why some feller came up with G.O.A.L. I can imagine how dark it can be at some warehouses at night. Few lights, and might even have glare from the street lights and what not. Before you back up, get out and look around.

I could have sworen that the article said that the kid worked for the same company as the driver of the truck that killed him.....PRIME.

I'm not sure. I hadn't even noticed that detail until you pointed it out either. I THINK, but I'm not positive, that it was his trainer. I haven't heard anything more about it lately.
