Weekend Dispatch & Load Planners
Ok - I've seen some doozies from the weekend staff, but this one is topping the list.
I'm sitting at the Pilot in Fort Worth on 35W. I'm to pickup a trailer at our yard tomorrow at our terminal in Waxahachie on 35E at 6pm on Sunday. The load is scheduled to deliver Monday morning at 11am in Toronto. 1,536 miles away.
So, I call in and explain that my truck can't do 180mph.
My response was (on the QC) to instead deliver the load 1hr earlier 30 mins away from the original destination.
Edit:
They dispatched me on the load anyway and told me them to give a legal ETA to deliver it. Calculated everything out and it looks like it'll be there a full 24hrs late, and that's with a couple days of 10.5hrs per day of running.

It is only about 2" on the map. You've got to love some of these dispatchers. This is a good reason to make it mandatory for dispatchers to have at least a couple of years behind the wheel before bringing them into the office.

Now the story gets even better:
Got up this am and headed to Wax. Arrived at 4:30 local time. Went in to get the paperwork from dispatch. When he gave it to me, I checked the contents and noticed that it had already been faxed to customs, so I asked him to check if by chance the load had already cleared. When he pulled up the load info, he saw the notes and information from the previous day. The driver who originally had the load had to bring the trailer to the terminal because of an airline leak. Well, the shop here is closed until Monday @ 6am. So, that's why they took him off the load. It also means that I can't take the load because of it being in shop status. Every message in the info screen said that they would let the planners know what was going on.
It would sure as hell would have been nice to have known this BS ahead of time. I started my day already, so the 14hr clock is running, and now I'm at the bottom of the list for loads because of this. But, they haven't unassigned me from the load yet. So, if I *do* have to wait for the shop to fix it, I'll definitely be getting breakdown pay on it.
I'll probably also make a phone call to the operations manager today, possibly monday, to let them know what happened on this load. The entire thing has been a clusterf*ck.

LOL Orange
Didn't take them long to get me a load, thankfully. I'm sitting in Edinburg, TX now with a load that delivers in Pharr in the morning. Big difference in weather too - it's 79 degrees here and not a cloud in the sky. But, I found out that my A/C needs charging. Roasting in the sun. Bad part is that the temp will drop to about 40 tonight. Not cold, no, but compared to almost 80, yes.

Ok - the truck can start cooling down inside anytime now. The sun just dropped down over the horizon, it's 70 outside, but the thermometer inside the truck is showing 95. Gahh
After the drive up I-49, then across I-20 the last 2 days, I was definitely ready for some dry roads.
