Here comes the snow (and ice)
I'm at home in northern WV now. Ice is supposed to start sometime after 4pm followed by snow in the morning. Should be fun when I'm supposed to leave tomorrow sometime after 8am or so with the load going to Wheeling. I just wonder where they'll send me next, especially since this storm seems to be hitting everywhere.

Was looking through the Weather Channel site. St. Louis is calling for 1" of ice, 3-4" of sleet and up to 2' of snow. I think the only thing missing is sulphur falling from Satan himself.

F this incoming storm. The weather folks are throwing a hissy about it around here and all we might see is a tiny bit of rain. They missed the one last Wednesday night badly, we ended up with ice under the snow. They kept saying not to worry, we might see 3-4 inches of snow, unfortunately they forgot about the inch of rain we had all day long. It turned the first bit of snow to a slush which quickly froze and became an inch of ice underneath the other 5 inches of snow.
Good luck to anyone who is going to take this storm on, stay safe.

I was parked in Hagerstown the day the last one came in. Once it started snowing - WOW. Just walking across the parking lot of the AC & T put about 1/2" of snow on me. I had to go to Baltimore the next morning to drop my load. I-70 was backed up from the US-40 exit of I-70 in Hagerstown to the rest area just west of Frederick. Luckily US-40 was moving good though. Baltimore definitely got hammered in that storm. There were cars abandoned everywhere on I-70 and I-695.

Wasn't just Baltimore Mal. Took the wife nearly 7 hours to get home that night from Dulles Airport, a distance of only 62 miles. Abandoned cars all over the place, people stuck or wiping out from the "wet ice" that they weren't aware of. At one point she sat for 3 hours and moved a whole 20 feet because the road was blocked with stuck cars. How about Towson University's men's basketball team getting stuck. They were trying to get to George Mason for a basketball game the same night, left at 3 pm, didn't get to Fairfax until nearly midnight. They had to come out of Baltimore and across the DC Beltway. Suffice to say, they missed the game.

Gotta take off in an hour or so. It looks like I-70 is the southern edge of the ice/rain mix, at least west to around Cambridge (I-77). Spoke to dispatch in Indianapolis this morning and they said it's horrible there - 1.5-2" of ice. I hope they send me south. Florida definitely looks good right about now. My luck they'll give me something that goes to Buffalo.
