Holy moly, that Andy Timmons guy can play. Was he flatpicking those double-stops??? Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
And, as always, Satch's music offers something to learn from. I loved the scratchy non-note sounds he was getting (pick slides?). If you're into souped-up Tele twang, you might dig Hellecasters (Will Ray, John Jorgenson, Jerry Donahue): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg1AD0GBii4

Here's Andy Timmons doing Farmer Sez, pretty cool song to get the crowd fired up.
I actually got interested in Timmons for his old neoclassical Groove or Die, which I use to practice. Could never get up his speed. He's like Petrucci speed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFcKOhUQYwo

Holy *@#$, that Timmons cat is melting my face off. I sure do love that chicken picking.
I'm not much a fan of Petrucci, though he can really play. Dream Theater doesn't do much for me - their singer mostly ruins it for me. Albert Collins, on the other hand - one of my favorite bluesmen. I love his stinging Tele tones and the way he slaps those strings.

Black Sabbath was another favorite of mine, and I bought a Gibson SG because of this sound.
Good recent clip, minus Bill Ward. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cen1SvpTsYk

The guy who inspired Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath to play was Django Reinhardt.
Tony lost the tips of his middle and ring finger on his fret hand when he was young, and did't think he'd play guitar again. Django plays mainly with two fingers, using his 3rd and 4th (partially paralyzed) only to help chording. He was in a fire, and didn't think he would play guitar again either, but relearned and became one of the best guitarists ever. You'll really dig the 1939 France setting, but these cool cats, better pack and leave soon! ya-ya svinehunts... gesvendikeitzbreghendzung! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzz6fAdFFis
