It doesn't get much kookier than this . .
Neb. man, 3 kids in custody after chase in truck - KTIV NewsChannel 4 Sioux City IA: News, Weather and Sports
"Sparks says Joshua Martens was taken into custody, as were the children, ages 14, 12 and 11. The 14-year-old had been driving the tractor."
Forget about the 14 year old driver for just a second. Can anyone cite a single instance where the fleeing tractor, with or without a trailer, actually got away?

When I was ten I thought Yoda was talking to me so I fell off a tree thinking that I would float in some tube! I just fell to the ground though and my dog licked me! after about 20 minutes I got up and never watched Star wars again!

Chief Deputy Dean Sparks says the rig was reported stolen around 10:20 p.m. Monday. By the time it was spotted, the trailer had been dropped off and the tractor was speeding west on U.S. Highway 30 into North Platte.

That's pretty amazing that they got the trailer unhooked on their own and at least had some brains about it, "Hey we can go faster and maybe get away if we drop this trailer off the back."

Not the first "odd" thing I've heard of in NE. In order to have some idea how to shift that truck, the 14-year-old had to have been doing some driving before. Not his first time behind the wheel
Some years back, I stopped at Greenwood, NE. For all the rigs at the truck stop, there were few drivers inside. But, there were state troopers. One struck up a conversation with me, and when every I was talking, he was getting closer. I backed away and asked him what was going on. He started chuckling.
"Our sargent took a call about a drunk driver in a big truck. He caught up to the guy, and while he had the driver's license on his clipboard, the driver took off with the squad car. He piled it up in the median 9 miles later. Now, we're supposed to find out how many of you drivers are doing any drinking by smelling your breath.":rofl::rofl:
And, that ended the conversation.

You have to keep in mind that farm kids grow up around trucks, tractors and farm machinery. This might not be the case, but it sounds like it. One way they learn how, is driving a pickup, or tractor from one field to the other.

Yeah, but it's a bit different driving the tractor, or the pick-up, and double-clutching a big truck. I'd say it wasn't the first time that kid was in the cab of a truck.

I imagine that kid had some experience. I'm sure it was more than one.
