GMAN said:

It has become such a hassle for citizens in some areas to own a gun that they choose to either hide the fact or not bother at all.
This MAY be true. In which case, I would advocate "hiding the fact." However.... it is NOT the case in the MAJORITY of the country. And therefore, the Federal laws are not restrictive to a point that it requires revolution.

I've never LIVED in places like Chicago, D.C, or Miami. I'm not IGNORANT of what goes on there.... but, out here in the REAL world, things are not so desperate.

I would think that the LAST alternative in these areas would be to "arm the public," but if that is what it takes? I could be persuaded. I just believe that the problems lie elsewhere as well as do the SOLUTIONS.

Neither I nor any of the others have advocated a return to the wild west. We do understand that where guns laws are restrictive that violence is rampant.
Then show me some PROOF! I'm sure I can find STATS to show that there are PLENTY of areas around the country where no such thing has occurred! And I can give you MANY reasons why violence has increased in certain areas REGARDLESS of gun laws! Or DECREASED.... for that matter!

And if you check the numbers I would expect that crime rates have actually risen since the government has required guns to be registered and permited.
You don't seem to be following my logic here, GMAN. Crime rates have RISEN for MANY reasons in recent years.... and it just happens to be coincidental with registration laws. It would have happened REGARDLESS! Show me SOME reason to believe that crime rates have risen BECAUSE of registration laws.

Growing up we never had to register our guns and it was rare to hear about so much gun violence. There were incidents, but they were no where near up to the level of today.
We grew up in the same timeframe, GMAN. I had no gun to register. Times have just changed. We used to could leave our cars unlocked. We used to could walk dark streets at night. MY LIFE has been affected just as YOURS has... and I HAD NO GUN TO REGISTER! The increase in violence has absolutely NOTHING TO DO with gun registration OR ownership IMHO.

Registration has not done anything to reduce violent crime. Neither has any other restrictive gun legislation.
I disagree, but I can see your point. But, likewise.... registration nor "regulation" has done NOTHING to INCREASE gun violence... NOR has it "abridged" your 2nd Ammendment rights.

Criminals will always take what they want until someone stops them. Cops only come on the scene once a crime has been committed.
And THIS is your main, if not SOLE, contention in favor of arming the American public? Okay... I see your point. But, don't pretend that it wouldn't lead to the days of Dodge City! Is it a failure of our police forces? Yeah... maybe. But is the answer to arm a fragile public? I don't think so.

When there were few or no restrictions on gun ownership we didn't have the gun violence we have today.
Likewise... when we wore ties to school, paid 19 cents for a burger, and had to steal a Playboy to see some PORN.... we didn't have the gun violence we have today. Can you draw a relationship between these facts?? AGAIN... listen closely.... we would have had the increase in gun violence today, as a product of an evolving lifestyle and country, REGARDLESS of certain laws passed concerning registration of firearms. Registration of firearms has NO RELATION to increased gun violence! If you disagree.... PROVE me wrong! ... and PLEASE USE FACTS! :hellno:

I have witnessed first hand that gun violence has increased since registration started.
Haven't we ALL? Gun violence has ALSO increased since Instant Replay was accepted into the NFL. Can you show me how THAT was a causal relationship? :hellno:

You can't turn on the TV any more without seeing something about someone being murdered. It is mostly in bad areas of town, but there none the less. The bad people are bringing more of their crime to the suburbs. Just a few weeks ago someone was killed by a drive by who was trying to kill someone else who was at the same location. The guy was just wanting to buy some gas for his car.
And this could have been prevented HOW by someone having a CCW??

It sounds to me as though you have already made up your mind, Hobo. Of course, you can ignore the facts. You only need to have lived for a few decades to see the changes that have taken place in this country.
I SAID my mind was still "open" and I meant it. As I said earlier... I don't ignore FACTS. I ignore supposition and "group think." I've lived for the SAME number and actual "decades" that YOU have, GMAN (maybe one less?) And, yes... I have seen MANY changes that have taken place in this country.

I just prefer to analyze them in the TOTAL context of what has and IS going on... not just what FOXNEWS tells me is the context!

Tell me, GMAN.... to WHAT do you attibute the rise in Catholic priests being charged (or found out) with pedophila? Is it some government conspiracy to make them REGISTER as Priests? Is it somehow linked to registering our firearms? I mean really.... just how far can you take this "cause and effect" claim of yours when it has absolutely NO BEARING on reality?

Rifles in Chicago are kinda hard to use in an Apartment. That in the Stupid freaking laws you have to Comply with to even have a Firearm in IL. One the Ammuntion and Weapon have to be kept Separtate UNTIL the time to Fire the Fiearm in a Separate room. My BIL that reloads his own brass has to keep his Empty shells in one room his Power Primers in another and his Bullets in yet Another JUST TO COMPLY with the STATE LAWS. He lives in Southern IL.

Milatary Intel now that is the Biggest MisStatement I have EVERHEARD IN MY LIFE. Why is that that is were they shove those that they are award will aim the wrong way with the weapons. Military Intellagance could not Pedict the Tet Offensive Missed the Attack on Pearl Harbor was so wrong on the size of the forces needed to take the Island in the Pacfic it is amazing that we did TAKE SOME OF THEM. Then there is the Freaking Hedge Rows in Normandy not One of them realized they were 8 feet tall and perfect fatal FUNNELS.

Hobo I try to stay out of your rants but until you try and live in IL as an Oppersed person here of anykind LEARN from those of us that do and LEAVE.

The AK-47 uses a 7.62X54 round. Both of which are Full Metal Jacketed hence FMJ rounds covered with copper. I guess all the line 5 time has rotted your brain off. What the IDF uses is a Knockoff off the FAL called the Galliel which is a 30.06 round think a M-1 Garand round. They also have a Bullpup style rifle in the same caliber. The UZI is not used expect by the FEMALE FORCES OVER THERE. See in Isreal if your male your part of the IDF they are the POLICE the MP side of it.

What opened up the Gang Dominance up in Chitown was when the Chicago Demoncraps outlawed the Citizens of Chicago to LEGALLY OWN HANDGUNS in Chicago and then only the OUTLAWS HAD WEAPONS.

The gangbangers know they can go in and rob rape do what ever they want and all the people have to defend themselves with is what is in the house. Now if your a Criminal and your packing a .357 versus a man with only his fist who has the LONGER RANGE. IL is so screwed up it is silly we have to undergo 3 Differant Background cecks to even have a Gun in our house. First we have to apply for a Firearms Ownership Identifaction Card then if the State Police say we can get it we are approved for that. Then when we buy the weapon we have the Federal one However the State runs one also. So in addition to the Feds the State can turn you down if they want. Yet the Idiots in Chicago would rather go after the people that Legally own a weapon than go after all the Illegal ones on the street. Why since alot of them it turns out have come from POLICE BUYBACKS.

1ST it's a M-16 not M-15 and it's 5.56 caliber AND that's NOT the same as a .223 (very close but close only counts with hand grenades)
2cd AK 47 and SKS' and most of the copies are chambered for the 7.62x 39 MM round witch has a rebated rim for use with hi cap mags in a semi auto ( or full auto) 7.62x54 is a rimmed cartirdge for use in bolt action's
Both rounds ( all three if you include .223) come in a verity of bullet types BUT not all FMJ also popular is soft point and hollow point but the military only uses the FMJ

30-06 is not the M1 Grand round , the gun was chambered for the round not the other way around.

HOBO, what is a cop killer round?? as far as I know there is no such thing! any round that can kill a cop can just as easily kill a civilian, are you talking about armor piercing? If so there have been "outlawed" for handguns for some time now

Sure... because rifles and apartments in Chicago have different sizes and dimensions than ANYWHERE ELSE in the country! :hellno:

My BIL that reloads his own brass has to keep his Empty shells in one room his Power Primers in another and his Bullets in yet Another JUST TO COMPLY with the STATE LAWS. He lives in Southern IL.
And he does this WHY??? Because he's afraid of the Obama Gestapo that's gonna show up at HIS doorstep (like they have nothing better to do) to see if he's complying with the law? :eek2::hellno:

Milatary Intel now that is the Biggest MisStatement I have EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE.
Typical statement from someone who's never BEEN a part of our military intelligence network. :moon:

Why is that that is were they shove those that they are aware will aim the wrong way with the weapons.
No one gets "shoved" into Intel. You have to request it and qualify for it with nearly perfect ASVAB scores.

You don't get INTO our MOS (that's an Army term cuz most people think the military is ONLY the Army) without being in the top 5% of all testing criteria.

Military Intellagance could not Pedict the Tet Offensive Missed the Attack on Pearl Harbor was so wrong on the size of the forces needed to take the Island in the Pacfic it is amazing that we did TAKE SOME OF THEM. All of these things WERE predicted (or at least reported) by intel agents/specialists within the military. WE cannot be held responsible for the fact that politicians or military commanders don't take heed of our advice or information.

Hobo I try to stay out of your rants but until you try and live in IL as an Oppersed person here of anykind LEARN from those of us that do and LEAVE.
I wouldn't LIVE there. I don't HAVE to. If YOU have a problem there, perhaps YOU should LEAVE!

Yes, I'm referring to armor piercing rounds. I don't know what caliber or whatever they came in, but they DID have to be "outlawed" by legislation. I'm not sure they were worried about handguns, though. I thought it was more assault weapons or machine pistols. Point is... the NRA wanted them to be "available" with no restrictions. The government outlawed them (whenever) to protect those who are there to PROTECT civilians.

I'm STILL waiting for someone to explain the "X39" or "X54" parameters. I really don't know what this means.

And that is the basic point against the argument to ban weapons. You can ban their manufacture in THIS country, but not in other countries who will fill the manufacturing void in a NY second. Therefore, any manufacturing ban here would be useless, as would laws to restrict availability of ammunition. If someone wants to commit a crime, they'll get the guns no matter what it takes to get them or where the guns have to come from.

The same argument holds for the "war on drugs". Ban them here, but you can be sure that the supply won't dry up just because they're outlawed here.

It's the length of the casing, Hobo. The 7.62 is the round (bullet) diameter.

Thanks... yes... I KNEW what the first number was. I SAID so. I just didn't know what the Xnumber was. Now that I know it is the length of the casing, I still don't know exactly what difference it makes, or why some people are so "ruh-ruh..." excited about it.

I guess if I HAD to guess... the longer the casing the more powder that could be put in for a what.... FASTER velocity??

You know.... I know what I NEED to know about guns. Point, shoot, bury the dead!

Yup. longer casing = larger charge = further distance & more ft. lbs. of piercing damage at terminal end.

GUN CONTROL = HITTING WHAT YOU AIM AT. ; )
