One week before the most solemn day in the Christian year, the city of Davenport, Iowa removed Good Friday from its municipal calendar, setting off a storm of complaints from Christians and union members whose contracts give them that day off.

(Getty Images)Taking a recommendation by the Davenport Civil Rights Commission to change the holiday's name to something more ecumenical, City Administrator Craig Malin sent a memo to municipal employees announcing Good Friday would officially be known as "Spring Holiday."

"My phone has been ringing off the hook since Saturday," said city council alderman Bill Edmond. "People are genuinely upset because this is nothing but political correctness run amok."

Edmond said the city administrator made the change unilaterally and did not bring it to the council for a vote, a requirement for a change in policy.

Its double negative term; political means the exact opposite of correct, cancelling one another out.

This story is just one more example of how those in office can abuse of their powers. Sad but all too common.

As for the faith aspect of the article, who needs a government calendar to tell you what day is HOLY or not. If His own people didn't respect Him and sacrificed Him on that day, why get upset when a small government entitiy removes the day from their calendar. Its not like its gonna be a paid Holiday either way.

So toss the City Admin out on their rear-end if the council was required to vote on it first. Our County Admin got tossed out on his rear for being two-face. He was forced to retire vs being fired because he was attempting to cause rifts amongst the Board of Supervisors then running to the media and speaking on issue's he was not supposed to be speaking on. The issue's did not concern him or his view but he was putting words in Supervisor's mouths of which they never said and it was causing problems at their meetings.

I think it has already begun, but the radicalization, deamonizing, whatever you want to call it, of Christians, is about to REALLY begin.

HOW MANY WARNINGS DO WE NEED?

In 1952, President Truman established one day a year as a National Day of Prayer.

In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer.

In June 2007, (then) Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that the USA was no longer a Christian nation.

2009, President Obama, canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of "not wanting to offend anyone." It was all over the news by the way.

In On September 25, 2009, from 4 AM until 7 PM, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. There were over 50,000 Muslims that day in DC. You can go to Islam On Capitol Hill | Home Page and verify this one.

Guess it doesn't matter if "Christians" are offended by this event -- we obviously don't count as "anyone" anymore.

I know, I know. The website says, "We shall serve all people, regardless of race, religion or national origin." My point is these guys are being brought to the forefront and christians are being pushed to the back. And tell the Islamic kooks overseas about the montra these Islams have over here and they would laught their heads off or cut yours off.

Have you ever seen the Islamic "MOBS" over in England when they get together? Have you read some of their signs? I don't think they have in mind the same thing that Christians do. They are taking over over there because of "POLITICAL CORRECTNESS".
