This site really educated me for the months up to, including, and after my obtaining my CDL. My entire driving career I have been a positive participator of this community.

Certain events in my life have driven me to a personal adventure and learning experience that most of you seem to take as some sort of a freeloader vagabond bum view to.

Maybe one day I will come back, maybe one day I wont. Everyone wants to make this out to something it is not. Get a greyhound, even if I had the money for a bus ticket I still wouldn't do that, it is against the point of what I am trying to do! I am not lazy, it takes a lot of work to do what I am doing.

Life is not about working for as much money as you can. How did our founding fathers live? Did they go to work all day so they could pay the bank note for their house, horse, groceries? No, They worked hard to work the land and built it all themselves, grew their food, etc.

Maybe what I am doing is not that extreme, but it is based on the same concept, I am choosing a lifestyle for now, where I work to live, not work to make money to buy things that make living easier.

I have nothing further to say on the subject.

Having been a driver, you know the penalty for an "unauthorized passenger". Yes, I do know it's done every day, but it's also done by guys that really don't care if they keep their jobs or not. Sure, you can help drive, but suppose a car coming the other way crosses the median and smacks the truck you're in. If witnesses see you as the driver, what happens to the real driver. Having that on his/her DAC... You already know the rest. Are you keeping in mind what any driver risks by picking you up for a ride? Sure, I've done it too, MORE THAN 15 YEARS AGO. Last year, I got stopped 3 times between here and Kansas City, and asked to see my permission slip for a passenger when I had my grandson with me. You want a ride to your destination, and you're asking anyone to risk their career to get you to where you want to go.

Sure, I know it's done all the time. I also remember seeing a guy in Des Moine, IA that was complaining he was stuck there for almost 5 weeks. Drivers that care about their jobs and their future as drivers may refuse to give you a ride at gunpoint. And, you're going to get "uppity" with us for our suggestions? Do you think you'll be ready to face facts by the time you are 30?

this is just another guy who wants everyone to pay his way and do the work for him, when he first came on here, he p'med Headborg and me both and said he wanted to start his own board, he asked us to turn our membership lists over to him so he could save himself the trouble of actually doing any work. people who really want to work their way across country don't come on message boards and beg
someone suggested he get the stuff and polish wheels and tanks, you notice he said he would rather just do computer work, of course he would, it requires no labor
