What do you think about Toyota?

1993 Buick century 77,000miles i got it with 55,000 on it. Since i owned it i had to put an alternator in it thats it. It cracks me up when people talk sh-it on American cars but all the ones i have ever owed or my parents have always ran good with little problems.

Rut-row Shaggy. Toyota claimed that nothing was wrong with the Prius model other than a brake issue originally............
Runaway Toyota Prius stopped by US highway patrol | Business | guardian.co.uk Of course the other story I have yet to read anything on was how Toyota was going to show some professor up yesterday. The guy had figured out how to make the throttle stick by changing codes or something in the computer and was more than willing to show them how he did it. Toyota called his bluff and said that they were show Monday(yesterday) with the help of Stanford professor's that it was impossible to do on their software and that it could be done on software from other makers............ That made zero sense, if it can't be done on yours but can be done on others, then yours can get the same problem because it's the same system you tarts. Never heard anything about it, guess they got humble pie and found out they were wrong?

Of the 3 pickups I've owned, this one was the best. It was just a plain jane farm truck. No power windows, no power door locks. Didn't even have an air conditioner. Every once in a while, some kid would ask me, "if it had a cam in it." I'd say,"Of course it does. How do ya think the valves open and close?" (I knew what they were referring to.)I also had a 1993 Chevy half-ton. When I traded it in, it had 240some-odd thousand miles on it. Right before I traded it in, I had to put on a water pump. Never had to do anything else. It was an extended cab-long bed. I now have a 2002 Chevy half-ton. I've got about 130,000 miles on it, and it's doing good. My wife drives a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. It's 4-wheel drive. :smokin: and yes, I've buried it. I thought I grew up, and left stupidity behind...but apparently not. ![]() I'll stick to my American made vehicles.

When I first got in one of our sysco trucks, when I did my road test with them, I looked around in the cab. I said, "This dag gum thing aint even got a throttle." My supervisor reached over there, and 'hit' the cruise toggle switch. Kicked it up to about 900. I thought, "Ohh". :eek2:

Hey Ford, while I'm not discounting the Toyota problems, I'll lay $100 that the man in the Prius that was stopped by the Highway Patrol is pulling a scam. Perfect time to do it and likely won't get caught, either. He'll get a good chunk of change and his moment in the spotlight.
I listened to the 911 call. Really? He can't control his car, can't do anything to try and stop it, but he certainly can grab his cell phone and call 911 and have a lengthy conversation. Really and truly? I don't buy it.

I would buy it TF, don't you know how some people are out there on the roads these days? Tunnel Vision and no brains to speak of. When everything goes to crap they freak out and stop driving so to speak. They have an emergency so they call 911 expecting them to be able to do something about it........why didn't the 911 center or the police on the scene get him to put it in neutral? They told him to use his handbrake with the foot brake and then they pretty much boxed him in. Or at worst, cut the key off, yeah you lose the power steering assist and brake boost assist but it will start slowing down.
There was another today in NY with an older lady pulling out of her driveway, Prius shot across the road and slammed into a wall. Toyota called the police and flat out asked them to release the car to them so they could investigate internally. Police told them to take a hike, it was up to the owner to decide that not the police plus they had already called the feds to see if they wanted in on the investigation first. The lady claims to have barely touched the pedal because her driveway isn't that long so she would have had no reason to push it very far to get going to the end of her driveway.

Not meaning to be a (fill-in the blank), but MrFord you should really read that article again about Toyota trying to replicate the test done by another academic. My reading of it gave me a couple of feelings on the subject.
First, the test showing the acceleration should leave serious doubts in anyone with a pulse considering what had to be done to get it to occur. While possible, it is extremely unlikely to occur in real conditions. Second, the company with the Stanford professor doing the counter tests has a history of being hired by companies facing lawsuits (previously showed that 2d hand smoke didn't cause cancer for tobacco companies). All this tells me is that Toyota is doing damage control to minimize the lawsuits it is facing, and other parties are manipulating/fabricating information for public opinion.

that Prius was headed EB on I-8 in San Diego. I guess the Chippe got his black and white in front of it and his car took one for the team and got it stopped. There are huge mountains out that way and he got in front of it on one of the 6% climbs.

An interesting article on incident reporting for Toyota Prius'. Reminds me of accident claims when a city bus is involved in an accident (you couldn't fit the number of people with injuries in a clown car let alone the bus).
