Default Am I Crazy For This..

I have took another job a month ago and my last job i use to run up north ALOT!! and i MISS IT alot!! Nothing like running in those 15 truck convoys trying to find a way to pass and dealing wit slow and dumb 4 wheelers at the same time going up thru 95 in CT between NYC and the 91 Split in New Haven.. The Mass Pike was pretty nice at times, hell i've never had a problem in Mass.. well take that back, that bimbo miss cooked my sandwich in Worcester and had me dropping bombs.... but thats another story for another day.. but damn, am i Crazy for this?? I hear alot of drivers say they won't even think twice going north of Richmond and East of 81

Yeah, I remember going up through PA, while all the roads were closed a few years ago. Got to Boston ON TIME for my delivery. Then back down through PA, with the same roads closed again.

Just because I can do it does not mean I am going to miss it. Don't know where your new job takes you, but look for new forms of excitement and challenges to face. Or customers you really like to see. To continue going up through the "lion's den" could mean your year to have a mishap. By not being there, it won't happen. Sort of like back in Nam. The bullets that had our names on them were going to hit no matter where we were. The ones addressed "To Whom It May Concern" were not going to hit us after we were gone. Same thing with accidents.

I did a whole lot of running the northeast. At one time, I could have had an apartment in CT, and been home every week. When I started getting sent to other parts of the country, I did not miss it, anymore than I missed the "To Whom It May Concern" in Nam.

What I do miss now that I'm retired... Talking to one of the security guards in Kansas.

You are thinking about your old job? You used to run "up-north" a lot, and you miss doing that? Well, if you made a good living, and you enjoyed it, by all means, go! Head on up-north! Go enjoy yourself! If you see a gal in a pretty dress, playing Maraca's...you'll know you went the wrong way.

I like running Northeast.
Coming from where I live, it gives me a chance to see females with human DNA.

I'd sure like Windy to give more details on that security guard from Kansas.

We've had some really interesting conversations while I've been waiting to be assigned to a dock. And, she has all the right equipment, in all the right places, in some fantastic proportions. Definitely not the "run-of-the-mill" security guard. Sorry, no pictures.

"Am I Crazy For This.."

I wouldn't say you're crazy . . for that.

I like running the Northeast . . I'm from Maine and try to get there at least 4 or 5 or 11 times a year. Sure, my family and most of my friends are there. I can make family and friends anywhere. But Maine has the ugliest women, the best beer and the finest seafood imaginable. I'm 3 for 3 up there.

84 east of PA sucks. 91 south of VT sucks. All the truck stops suck. 95 below the Maine t-pike sucks . . especially the MA-NH 95/495 sb pickle park! 90's OK until the 128 but, hey, it's all about the journey, right?

By the way, at the very end (east) of the Mass pike (90), downtown Boston, essentially, there's a truck "staging" lot where, if there isn't too much staging going on, is a great place to park, for a few hours, at least. I've used it a few times. There are some signs about authorization and permits but I've never seen anyone trying to enforce them. I was picked up by an old girlfriend so I can't remember if you can walk out of it or if you'd be surrounded by highway . . you could definitely call a cab or grab one right there. There were a half dozen there on my last visit.

Baltimore is a great city if you can overlook it's reputation as the murder capitol of the east. It's very easy and cheap to get a cab or a bus at the TA and get into the downtown/waterfront. Wicked cool. Wicked historic. Great food.

"I live up here, and what i miss is sitting on a beach in Grand cayman." That's pissah!

Stingray City is pretty cool. I miss the beach in Curacao and Mark and Suzie at The Dive Bus. Nothing like jumping in the ocean for a dive in 80+ water.
