No more IdleAire

Fresh aire in the offing?
IdleAire to recharge? - Today's Trucking, the truck news site. As I think about it, the equipment is still there thus no significant equipment expenses. There doesn't appear to be any Idleaire money lying around to tear it all down and I can't imagine the truck stop operators want to pick up that tab. I'd think the existing Idleaire would be happy to sign off on it's stake to get out from under all the potential liabilities. All a new investor (a consortium of the affected truck stops, perhaps?) needs to do is put up the cash for day to day operations and . . cha-ching . . you're in business for pennies on the dollar. A new, debt free Idleaire can remain as unpopular as it ever was but still have a much better shot at making money. If they'd like me to ever consider using it again, though, they'd need to add value and establish a stricter "quiet zone" policy. Specifically, no reefers or apus or designate a reefer/apu only area. There's a company in Washington state that makes shore power cables for the boating and RV markets that's working on something new for trucks. I don't know the details but I do know they've already lined up some customers and they got a chunk of stimulus money to aid the effort.

Something like idle air is viable but they need to figure a way to get ppl to use it. I figured things out and the price of useing it vs the price of fuel was comparable so for me the only time I profited was if I was doing a restart. Day to day operations, it was to much hastle for the saveings. Also, since many trucks are starting to use APU's that makes it a hard sell for them.

As far as I am concerned they can leave all the IdleAire locations closed. After the way that they closed I would expect that they would have a difficult time regaining their momentum.

notice how they're opening a few locations at the worst truck stops in america, as far as space management is concerned. also, there is not f'ing way in hell i'd everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr stop at the flying j in east st. louis. as a matter of fact, i'd NEVER stop there for any reason. forget that chit!

I wonder if they are getting any Green/tree hugging/save the mud gnat gubbermunt money?
I'd put a (union-made) filter on my butt for ummmm... 20Mill, and keep my mouth shut for another 5Mill, plus a Contingency fee of 2.5 Mill... I give back to the DNC.

Celadon says they'll reimburse us 50% for up to 8 hours of IdleAire.
Ya, right. I'd rather leave the truck running for free.

I remember them saying that in orientation, all I could do is roll my eyes. I remember with risinger they payed for it. they loaded x number of dollars per day for it. and if you had to do a restart you just let them know and they would make sure you had enough on the comdata for the restart.
