What he got is fine, but it won't bring the driver back. And, we're all drivers. It could happen to any of us that stops.

It depends on where you shoot them and how many times you shoot as to whether it can be considered self defense or not. I know it used to be here that if someone tried to break into your house and you killed them, they had to be within the residence to be considered self defense. If they fell backwards out a window or door and landed outside it was considered murder or even though the door or window was broke open.
I disagree to some extent with your take. I cannot think of a self-defense class in the world that does not teach you to shoot at an attacker until you run out of ammo. Mine sure didn't and no police in this country shoots someone once which is why you have criminals with 17 holes in them. They are trained to shoot until the gun is empty. Shooting once and stopping to see if the guy is ready to give up is stupid at best. If you have proper training it takes less than one second for a double-tap. I think the case might be made for the shooter to have provoked the other guy but it still sounds like self-defense to me unless the guy opening the door did not try to get into the truck and the shooter never gave the guy a warning by pointing the firearm at him first. I still think he had a bad lawyer.

great thread!

I've been doing my runs without a cb for the last few times and its killing me.....or so I thought.

Example: I was in Helena Mt and drove 10 miles east, west, north, and even south to find a TA or like truck stop. NOTHING! They don't have one in the whole city. Sure would of liked a cb so I can ask someone and another example: when I go over the passes in MT I sure would like to ask someone how the roads are. BUT no CB.

Now I read this thread and it makes me think I should not even get one. That way I keep my blood pressure low. All my customers know me and I go to the same places every time and it will not change.

Plus: I'm sure I've pissed some drivers off cause my lights are so freaking bright on low been and blinding on high beam. But I can't fix that so I just do my job and drive. Now if I had a cb and someone spouted off when I am having a bad day, chances are I would spout back and so it would begin.....Thats something I need in my life....

I guess if I really need a cb I can get one and turn it off when I don't ask for questions....? But the more I think about it the more I realize it is not a MUST HAVE for me. I have been fine with out one and will be fine in the future.....

The last thing anyone needs is a argument over the cb for something stupid after a long day of driving. Then throw in some back country highway with no one around but you, wild animals and a pissed off driver who wants to hurt you.....all that equals no good.....

Sad story and condolences to the family....no one deserves what happened to him.

It's good that they found him. I guess he will be 'away' for a good while. I wonder how they found him?
