I hear older folks telling me of the days when you could pretty much use a HS diploma to get a steady going, good paying blue-collar job and you would be set. Nowadays, it seems that even having a Masters, or a PhD would be the only way to keep yourself anchored to a specific job for awhile. Another thing that bothers me are these people I see that actually embrace this "floater" lifestyle. They act like it's not the end of the world and it's refreshing to get hired, then let-go in a span of six months to a year. To me, it's only going to be a matter of time before they "snap", or in most cases, "fizzle out". |
