A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted efforts of a person or people to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. heh, yeh DDoS attacks can be nasty. I'm no new person to them, I've done some system administraton before and they can cripple a network. There are many reasons they do it from simplely they have fun doing it to trying to spam from the server, to destoying data on the server. Whatever they were trying, glad to see it's over now

 

I can't imagine why someone would gain pleasure from taking down a website. That would take a really sick individual. :thumbsdown:

 

I wondered what was going on. I stopped by after not visiting the board for many months and I couldn't view hardly any pages. I thought maybe they weren't paying the bills or something.

 

I had a little trouble loading some pages but wound up redirected to a midget tossing porn site so I really didn't care . . that was last Thursday, or so, and I'm just now getting back . .

 

I . d-u-n-n-o.... ... my 'puter still has problems.

I'm sure it's this . . website.

 

I think it's stupid. What's the point? Other than taking down the website. I don't understand they what get out of it.
