Well, I thought it was funny that I've had so much trouble. I think that's why that one post was a double post, instead of just an "edit". I edited the post, and when I was done, it said, "this page cannot be displayed etc etc etc. I refreshed it, and then it showed that my post was edited. Of course, if I had only known that it double posted.
A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted efforts of a person or people to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, and even root nameservers.
One common method of attack involves saturating the target (victim) machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by either forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consuming its resources so that it can no longer provide its intended service or obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately.
Denial-of-service attacks are considered violations of the IAB's Internet proper use policy, and also violate the acceptable use policies of virtually all Internet Service Providers. They also commonly constitute violations of the laws of individual nations.[1]

heh, yeh DDoS attacks can be nasty. I'm no new person to them, I've done some system administraton before and they can cripple a network. There are many reasons they do it from simplely they have fun doing it to trying to spam from the server, to destoying data on the server. Whatever they were trying, glad to see it's over now

I can't imagine why someone would gain pleasure from taking down a website. That would take a really sick individual.

I wondered what was going on. I stopped by after not visiting the board for many months and I couldn't view hardly any pages. I thought maybe they weren't paying the bills or something.

I had a little trouble loading some pages but wound up redirected to a midget tossing porn site so I really didn't care . . that was last Thursday, or so, and I'm just now getting back . .
