Default I have to mention this place

This week took me to St. Johnsbury, Vermont. I traveled up I91 to get there. There isn't many choices for truck stops, but I decided to stop at exit 17 as this was the closest to my destination. Boy was I glad I did, I had asked a couple of drivers over the cb about this place and got positive responses about the food.

P&H Truck Stop is the name of the place and if anyone ever gets up that way you have to stop in here. The food is awesome, and the showers (only two) are clean like home. Don't make the mistake we did, I played it safe and got a cheeseburger, as did my wife, the evening we were there, but I saw some of the other plates being served and wished I hadn't. Pot Roast looked delicious. Home made soups as well.

Next morning we got up and went in for breakfast. I got eggs, sausage, homefries (real fresh potatoes), and home made raisin bread. OMG! the raisin bread made me want to move to Wells River, VT. I ain't kidding.

Here's a couple links.

I feel like I made a real discovery here. Yeah, I broke this story.

I'll go along with the P&H at Wells River. Been there many times and enjoyed. I don't know of anything on their menu that is not good. And, while it's not the fanciest parking lot, in that area, it's a BIG lot. Also, never had my sleep disturbed in the middle of the night when taking my break there. add to that, the staff does not make you feel like 3rd-class customers because you drive a truck.

In terms of other truck stops with great food, that are not part of any chain, MN, Exit 178, Nelson Bros. Stop in, go inside, and you're in for a real treat.

Wi, SR-29, Exit 127 (cnty hwy E) Abbyland Truck stop.

Wi, US-51, Exit 205, The 51 Truck stop (And, FREE WIFI)

WI, SR-29, Exit 198, Wilderness Crossing Truck stop.

The food at any one of these will have no problem luring you away from the "big chain" cuisine. And, the prices are not out of line either.
