If I am not prying too much, how many miles on it and how many dollars did it cost?

I wish they still made the 7.3, it's a beast.
My wife is Chevy lover......... we try not to argue about it in public............ anymore

I used ot have a 96 7.3L very good motor. Now i have an 2004 6.0. My 6.0 has gave me no problems yet with 55,000 on her. But i do hear bad story's about them.

Nothing will ever be as good as the 7.3. Thanks emissions for the 7.3s death.

BTW rosty if your going to say what you have you better post pics.

If you remember the old Ford 300, straight 6, people are still talking about that as being the best engine Ford ever put out. Ford has had some good engines. Too bad they've also had a couple that were not worth taking to the drawing board, much less producing.

79,000 miles, XLT w/leather,4X4. A Chevy dealer took it in on trade and priced it at 11,777. I was probably the first one to look at it. Ended up paying 9650 + tax. Similar condition Suburbans with the 8.1 liter (496 ci) big block are rare and bringing 12-15000. No one makes a big block SUV anymore, let alone a diesel so people are hanging on to them. A diesel Excursion is insane money. A low mileage 2001-2002 7.3 powerstroke would be 20 grand, High mileage ones (200,000) are still 15 grand. Of the three, a V10 Excursion is the most common and lowest priced.

7.3 powerjoke is a good motor. i'll say that much..

the 6.0 just sucks!

i pulled 10000lbs with a 6.0 with 4.30 (?) gears.. it struggled.. alot. that was on flat ground your foot always in it.

my dad has a dmax.. 32 ft race trailer, 7 ft high, 102 wide. the trailer weighed in around 14500 with my buick in it. ripped it across I80 in pa like it was a toy up and down the hills doing 80 with out breaking a sweat!

anyway back to the OP. good luck with the truck. that v10 has alot of down low grunt! dont know if it'll run with a 8.1 but alot of grunt for sure!

(this is coming from a die hard gm guy)

You can have that Isuzu motor. I will stick with International. In 2011 the D-max will have its hands full. with fords new 6.7. May a say too that ford is the 1st out of the 3 to start building thier own diesel.
