Mackman, thank god for me my truck idles, so i'm able to keep the windows closed up, but i guess after a few years of trash you just get used to the smell. You're prediction about the line is right, i get there that early to be the first truck in line, get in, get out and go get another one. And for the other poster, i can't see how you could ever do it in a Pete, i barely have enough room to stretch out in the vision, but honestly there are days i sleep better across the seats of the truck then i do at home.

not sure if my point was clearly understood. millersod, u told me what you make and told me you were happy. maybe i am confused...it happens alot. but you waiting for people to jump your **** about is wrong. if you are happy then i am happy. i personally would not want to do it but i find nothing wrong with you doing it. same as double r, i have absolutly no desire to do food service. that dont make it a bad job, it makes it a job i would prefer not to do..regardless of what it pays. truck drivers are funny. sit here and say that they dont make enough, dont get there due pay, are gone to long, etc. but yet they keep doing it and bitchin about it every chance they get.

and snowman...out trucks are faster as well..lol. if you see me comming in your drivers side mirror best be grabing ahold of the door, its about to get blowed off!!!

Well i guess i only posted it that way because that's what i'm used to seeing, i like commenting on threads like these, but i get tired of the same old BS that a lot of guys on here have to say about the way some of us choose to work. I actually find my job to be interesting, and challenging a lot of the times, so i appreciate your outlook on it. Didn't mean to come off like i was the "pissed off driver".

its cool. i am like you. i got really sick of the anti otr guys..you know who you are. i also get sick of the anti local guys. we all got jobs to do, hopefully we all get to do the job we want. if not hopefully we all got jobs that we can deal with till the one we want comes available. there is not one damn thing wrong with any otr driver or really any company in my opinion. if one can put up with the work and gets paid what THEY feel is fair then cool. i personally would not wanna haul trash or be in a daycab for 12 hours a day...but that is just me and is nothing against you or anyone else that does it. but millersod you been here long enough to know that not everyone feels this way. for some very strange reason alot of people on this board hate..witha passion...otr and everything and everyone that does it. i wish i knew why. how can anyone in this time fault someone for trying to go to work and do what they have to do to survive. but all you see on here is a guy saying he really needs a job and mentions an otr company. then it is on. otr sucks, you live in a box, you dont get paid to sleep, you are gone for weeks. i say good for you for actually doing whatever it takes to live up to your responsibilities. to all drivers, no matter what you do...thanks for all you do. ecspecially millersod and double r. without you too there would be no food at my resteraunt and trash piling up outside my back door.

ok... here goes my point of view. been in all three situations. Started out driving for TMC, pulling skateboards. than went and worked for 2 different o/o's. (both of whitch screwed me over badly). Than b/c the ex-wife started complaining, i got a lcal job to be home more, only to divorce her ***** a couple months later. I wworked in food service, delivering to brooklyn every day for 1.5 years. now i got my own truck, and am leased on to haul containers. Would not for the life of me go back to local.

My rationale is, that if i have a problem with the way things are run, and the boss pisses me off, i have to kick myself in the head... lol. nobody tells me HOW to do my job, and I can appreciate myself by taking home a nice paycheck every week.

I also tried working in an office 9-5 type of job in IT, and man did i hate the 9-5 part of it... was bored and unchallanged 95% of the time. It's not for me. I hated it. so I got into trucking, andf found what i really love. I do it wih a passion, and I'm the best at it I can be. I strive to be the best at it,. and to be as professional as it ets, and that even in these economic times is a big value to employers. I work my butt off, anf get it done. in return i'm busy as hell, and get a nice paycheck every week. no growling from me, no sir... lol

Some ppl are ment to be on the road, as OTR drivers. Some ppl are ment to work for an hourly wage. Some ppl are ment to be told what to do, some ppl need a hiarchy in their workplace to have goals to reach. Everyone needs to find the thing THEY like, and the job THEY love to do, and do it with a passion. No matter what that job may be, they will strive, b/c they like doing it.

I myself when I was local i hated getting up at 4:30 every motning, and dealing with nyc traffic. I liked the physical part, where sometimes i moved about 5-6000 lbs oin a handtruck thruout the day, but it still didn't feel right... I missed the open road. when they ecided that they need to cut back on pretty much everything they can, i figured it's time for me to jump.

before i write a novel... don't be offended if someone makes more or less money than you... at the end of the day if they are happy the way they are, let them be happy. everyone makes that choiuce themselves. if you're happy fine, if you're not, get a different job. ppl who WORK and are dependable get a job no matter what... even in this economy. I'm happy in otr being an O/O. I like... er... love doing what I do, and I'll succed just b/c of that.

my probably 37 cents counting all the words... lol

Cheers

BND
