Would You Pull This Trailer With Tires Like This..
I'm not complaining or anything but i was doing a walk around my trailer after i hooked up to it and i notice the tire threads looking a little like this
  These was on the outer most front Tandem Axle and the Inner One didn't look any better either. I took it too the maintenance office and they told me to run with it.. It was fine... Long story short would you go raised hell to get the tire changed?? especially if your company is firing people left and right for safety related issues?? Get the Shop to sign Repairs NOT NEEDED for Safe Operation of Vechile on your Inspection form since they told you to run it. Then find the NEAREST Scale that is open walk in and ask for a FULL DOT CHECK. If they are letting tires like this thru what else are they letting run on the road. IIRC if the cords are showing the tire has to be removed.

I know of a guy that hooked up and pulled one a lot like that. When he left the yard and got out of sight, he put the peddle down. About 4 miles down the road, he was calling them to tell them the tires lost the treads and were flat.
Another guy got to the nearest truck stop, poked an awl into a stretegic spot, and told the company it was flat. I've never seen DOT let something like that slide.

I'd take that sucker to the shop, also. Then, if the mechanic ok'd it, I'd do two things. First, I'd send a Qualcomm message stating (x tire ok'd by y mechanic). Second, I'd walk into the dispatch office (which is on the opposite side of the building as the shop) and ask the safety guy "Would YOU run with this?"
I wouldn't run with it either. I've had to persuade a few guys to change some tires at our shop, so it's nothing new to me. Usually, though, it's a set of duals with grapefruit-sized flat spots from where a yard driver (or road driver) yanked it around with a locked brake chamber. Also, am I correct in believing that those two were old drive tires? I know we use old drives on trailers, and old steers on drive axles, but I don't know how y'all roll out there...

It is a sad thing that a company would do this and jeopardize the safety of not only its drivers, but a public as well. I never did understand the logic behind things like this. How much money will you save by refusing to fix the problem right there. THat tire will go out if not today then tomorrow for sure..
I never try to save money by refusing to repair whatever.

Some of our trailer tires aint the best. I've seen some that have flat spots. :lol:
