Default For Fozzy:

THE MAN IN THE MIRROR

When I look in the mirror what do I see?
The measure of the Man I expected to be.
The sum of experiences that mold how I live
And the depth and totality of the love that I give.

I see in my eyes the truth that I teach
And I see the results in the lives that i reach.
The grey and the wrinkles are the badges I wear
As reward for the pain and the loss that I bear.

Still I man my razor and square away the face
Of a man who has lived with no fear nor disgrace.
Those who love me, expect nothing less
And no man alive has been equally blessed.

I see in the mirror, the Man that I am,
Though life hasn't gone quite according to plan.
But, the job isn't finished... the day just begun
So I'll fight on with valor 'til my last breath is done.

When I look in the mirror, what do I see?
I see the Man my son knew me to be!

Hobo

Thanks Hobo,
I was out and about in California for a week of running around with an old buddy and consuming far too much fresh seafood. The anniversary of the events of Feb24 - Mar 4 have clicked by. I was among friends and in contact with my son's friends and brother's in arms. I stopped by a large military surplus place on the 4th and had some dog tag sets made up with my son's information on them.. that really got to me,..

I have seen your sig. for a while now, but I had no idea that was your son. Man I am truly sorry about your loss. Sincerly appreciate his service to this country. My little brother is on his third tour in Iraq right now.

Thank You. It was a pretty weird day today. I got an email from a buddy about the local reserve quartermaster unit having a deployment ceremony today at 1400. We hopped in the car and went down there. I was surprised to see that the Major General who presided over my son's funeral was there and so was our Casualty Officer who retired two days ago and is leaving tomorrow for New Hampshire. It was nice to see these folks and meet with yet another group of troops bound for hostile shores.
