This is one of the arguements that was used in a recent article in a Libertarian magazine I get and wondered how the pro-union people, the actual union worker guys, respond to it.
Because they will not allow you access to union controlled facilities, PERIOD.

Try setting up a trade show display in Chicago and you will find out, or try to enter a construction site controlled by union labor in Cleveland or NYC, you could get shot, that is the way things are, so voluntary does not work when bricks are being thrown though your windshield.

Florida being a right to work state, you can choose to join the union or choose not to.
Snowman our situations are very simular UPSF was my 1st union job and they were non union when I started as well. When the teamsters came in the waived all initation fees for those who joined about $200. Monthly fees are 2.5 of your hourly just as you 50 to 60 a month. We had several guys not join, they were the old timer Overnite guys with more then 8 years at Overnite and no one in that barn is messing with them if anything they get treated better by management.
These non union guys are getting the same pay and benifits that the union guys are getting plus an extra 50 to 60 in their paychecks every month.
I asked my boss the other day about layoffs and he told me layoffs will come to those who do not perform constantly ***** and make mistakes on the job, NOT by senority.... Good thing for me as I have the work ethic and I do my best to keep my mouth shut...
