Climbing excavator

I'm gonna have to take away your man card for even asking a question like that.

If you watch the video real close you'll see that it locks onto the tower right below the operators cab between the tracks. The boom also has two 3" high tensil pins that lock it to the tower when he's moving the machine up. Don't take me wrong, that's talent and b@ll$ to operate it that way. Of course the million dollar question - why would anyone ever have a need for an excavator that can climb a tower?

Look at the 5:00 - 5:20 mark on the video. There are hooks that engage onto the tower.
There is no balance involved- once the chassis of the excavator is in place, it latches on. He then moves the boom, which latches on . . . and so on. I would wager most of us could do it. Anyone that could wheelie a Bobcat could do that. ![]() -p.

I can't believe that pilot landed that plane without so much as a scratch. I bet it took a real cleaning job to get the mess out of his seat. He is quite a pilot. I don't think that I have ever seen anyone land a plane safely after losing one of their wings.
