A Question for US Drivers
#1
Ok here's a question for you.. I have been asked a few times & can't quite come up with the correct answer.
I have been trying, without much success mind you, to come up with the proper conversion of license class & qualification to be able to figure out the conversion from my license to yours. First my license... I hold an Alberta Class 1 6.. Which means, in Alberta I have a Class One..for semi Trucks & Six for Motorcycle. Then I hold a LCV..Long Combination Vehicle Certification...which means I can pull over length combinations... turnpikes, Rocky Mountain Doubles & triple trailer combinations. Then I also hold TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) Certification with Explosive Endorsement, which I *think* is equivalent to your Haz-Mat. Then I also have a valid Alberta Instructor's License for Class One (semi trucks) & Class 3 (gravel trucks..the straight truck w/ pup, firetrucks, etc, over 5 ton). Would someone please from the US give me the equivalencies? Thanks!

Well, Thank you very much... I have been trying to get that one cleared up for some time...some things are pretty straight forward to convert...but others...like Greek ya know?

Oh I know...I was in high school when we converted...so that would be over 30 years now...you know we STILL have some things in the old imperial system...like in the grocery store you still see both...pounds & kilograms, etc.
I learned both systems, so can usually do the conversions without too much trouble, & since alot of people I talk to regularly only know the imperial system I tend to remember the conversions a bit better than some. But the kids now a days have no idea what a mile, pound, ounce, or acre is. LOL

Except maybe what an ounce is, and that's only in relation to drugs.

Yeah, they look at that little box with the total on it to see how much change they need to get out of the drawer.

Talking about the change bit it is worse now than ever. A few years ago a lot of people couldn't figure out how much change to give you unless the register told them to give you "X" amount. Now many registers actually go one step further and say to give back "X" pennies, "X" dimes, "X" one dollar bills, etc.
