Thanks GMAN. But what do you do when youre 2 days in this new deal and they lay off 6 guys that are on my job site, I dont know about others, and I here that they are laying off another 100 to 200 guys ( before the end of the year) including some high ups and more after the first of the year. I still have my job with United but should I stick it out here and hope nothing happens or stop now and go back where I was at before I tell them I'm not coming back?

I'd stick with your United agent for now as a local driver at 095. Might have to swap to HHG hauling, but they still do speccom there. Plus, they're a top 10 booker/hauler.

That is a tough decision. I think that I would stick with what I have and keep my eyes open. There are a lot of companies that are laying off. I would not want to be needing to look for a job right now.

I dont drive local for 095 I have been driving OTR for 590 now on the spec com side ( I did sign on with 095 but they sold there stuff to 590) I like United but I have been looking for something local and I finally found it hauling rocks and making more doing this then OTR but then I hear all this mess I dont know now!! I have a wife and two kids at home I cant afford to get craped on. I can admit one thing I do miss the OTR already and I wasnt out there long, but something about it.

It is ironic that you are searching for what I already have, a driving job that I am home every nite, weekends off. My problem is that it is an hour and fifteen minutes to drive my own car to get to terminal. Thanks to a former driver that got caught using the company truck to make a buck for himself on the weekend, now none of us are allowed to take truck home with us. The trucking companies are very picky of who they hire now since the economy is not so good. I live an hour east of I-95 in southeast North Carolina. Just about all of the trucking companies will not hire me because of where I live in the state. If the economy was not in the bad shape it is in now, I would probably try owner operator. No way will I try that now. So, I guess I will have to wait until at least the ecnomy gets better. But, I understand that you need to be home with family more. But you know that most trucking dispatchers only care about that truck rolling, and they don't give a hoot if you go home at all as long as they are comfy at home at nite. Good luck.

I know you don't work for 095, that's why I suggested it. maybe they can make room for you on the local hhg side of the operation down there. Just a thought. I think they pay around 16-20/hr.

I guess it is in my blood, I miss the crap out of it, just wish I could take the family with me and it would be all good. WM I cant get a call back from them and 095 manager is real close with the manager at 590 and I can of gave them this bull story to buy me some time off without losing my job with United so I could check out this Rodman job but nice equipment, good people, $ 13.50 hr anything after 40 time and half and we are cut back to 60 hours, What to do, What to do I'm just in between a rock and a hard place.

Speccom is super slow right now, I'm sure United won't miss you for a week.
I looked at the Freeman website, and I believe they are hiring a local CDL driver in Dallas. That is a union job, and pays wayy better than what you are looking for and aare posting numbers for. Freeman does tradeshow stuff, and offers time and 1/2 on saturday, and 2x on Sunday. Google "freeman tradeshow services" or some variation and get ahold of them. i'd do it in Chi-town if I were to go local. Those guys bring home 1200 a week and up!
