i'll only idle it when it's cold enough to cause the diesel fuel to gel. other than that, i don't even sleep well with the truck running. i'd prefer to have it off. it's a personal preference.

NYE of last year was spent freezing my ass off near edmonton, alberta.

But you state you "froze your as off" ...Am I missing something in the post that would make it clear you like freezing your ass off by choice?

i only froze my ass off when i left the truck, to go get something to eat, take care of personal needs, or to simply get the hell out of the truck for a little bit while i built a snowman, or started a snowball fight with other drivers who were there and bored as hell. besides, what does it matter that people only run the truck when it's truly needed rather than running it all while knowing it's not their fuel they're using?

Speaking of idling, I delivered a load of milk to the Fry's on 99th Ave in Tolleson, Az. Well before we scale in there, were required to check that our seals are still in tact, well climbing up the ladder I nearly burnt my skin off because the hot sun had been beating down on the tanker all day, as I checked my seals I looked over and see these 2 OTR drivers sittin in the front seats of their truck with the truck off. Well it had to of been at least 100 degrees that day! I felt bad for them, there should be no reason that a driver has to suffer in the heat like that. A driver that has to wait, especially in a place like Fry's that could take all day long to get unloaded should be allowed to nap comfortably and not wake up in a pool of his/her own sweat.

or die from heat stroke

But, apparently that's what it's going to take - a driver to die from the heat of sitting in a truck and the driver's family suing the pants off of the jurisdiction with the law.

Exactly, we can't leave animals in cars during the summer or we go to jail. It's even considered inhumane and wrong to leave a 10 year old in a car during the summer even though they are old enough to roll the windows down. Truck drivers are expected to bake in the summer and freeze in the winter..........issedoff:

Every day I'm out of the truck, I'm so much more happy with my decision to leave the industry.
