Default First Wreck

Well yesterday I had my first verry slight collision.

I had backed into a side road waiting on our paving crew to finnish up with the paver. So it could be carried to another job that evening but they finally got finished with the paver three hours later so I was in in a big hurry to get out of there once we got it loaded so I wasn't paying full attention and being they had the right hand lane closed on a two lane road I had to swing into the inside lane and wasn't watching my mirriors like I should and maneged to take out a road sign much to the amusment of the paving crew.

Sorry to hear about this, Mack! Have you been contacted by the lawyers for the SIGN yet? Are they going to press charges? Were you "over your hours?"

Thank God a minivan full of someone's FAMILY wasn't parked right next to that sign!

Will you have to do a refresher course to "relearn" your CMV driving skills? (obviously lost while off the road and being a local wuss!)

J/K Mack! But, you know that. Glad it wasn't anything serious!

Be careful out there! A wreck can happen anywhere! It doesn't matter whether one is OTR or local. The results can be the same! Complacency is the biggest enemy of ANY truck driver! We ALL sometimes forget to watch our mirrors, or care about the tail of the trailer! Construction sites can be very confusing! Keep your focus! (as I KNOW you will.)

And we all know how sympathetic road construction guys can be. I am sure they did not give you any grief at all.

Did your boss make you fill a bottle after taking down the sign?

Yeah I've discovered I make almost all of my mistakes when I get in a hurry.

I have a question what does IMHO mean?

Hey Mack how have you been??

Hey bud, just take this as a learning lesson.. and like another poster said, I think RoadHog.. When you start getting comfortable, that is when you need to get uncomfortable, becuase that is when mistakes or worse happens..

Even those who have driven for a long time make mistakes, and mostly it is becase they forget themselfs and get comfortable..
