My ex father in law used to load his backhoe onto his flatbed truck without ramps. Use the bucket to raise the front end up/onto the truck, then use the hoe to raise the back of the hoe and shove it onto the truck.

I've done similar with a backhoe, extend hoe to the fullest until it raises the front wheels, pull forward until the front wheels clear, set out riggers, pull in hoe, pick up rear of hoe with bucket and slide onto a flatbed. Rather scary the first few times you do it!!

I'm watching that wide-eyed! Never seen anything like it!

Have you seen them move a backhoe from one railroad car to another? They sit the front bucket on the next car and scoot the hoe to the next car with the rear bucket. Outriggers normally sit on the sides of the cars when unloading this way, they lift them off the cars and slide right on along. Pretty cool to watch!

I wouldn't do that now, but when I was in my 20's...not a problem.
Did you notice that the truck had a driver in it, to release the brakes so the truck could be pulled back under the bobcat??
