Why else would you make it a point to publicly address this situation and write them a letter explaining that you will no longer be using their services until they remove the item off of the shelf? It sure seems like a lot of grandstanding for someone who doesn't want a change. Since you are explaining what is defined as a personal boycott I would assume that you would be hoping to put the screws to them enough to get them to give into your demands or have them shut down. Maybe you just like grandstanding and talking tough, who knows.

Your overuse of the word clueless though is proving that you have yet to have a legitimate argument here. Maybe it makes you feel like you have won some mindless victory but third grade degradation has never been a measuring stick for me when deciding if someone has a valid complaint. But we are living in your world were only criminals buy slim jims and a slim jim is the only way anyone would break into a truck so I guess the first one to use the word clueless wins. If we could just get rid of slim jims and siphon pumps the the Pilots would be a safe place for a trucker to live, LOL.

Wanting them to remove an item from their shelf and trying to get them shut down entirely are two completely different things. Apparently you are having difficulty distinguishing between the two.

It has nothing to do with my argument, and everything to do with yours.

That's your contention, not mine.

Safe? Who knows. Safer? Maybe. More difficult for thieves to accomplish the same task? Probably. There is no reason to make it easier for a thief, which is exactly what these products do.

So, let's go back to your original post and see how "clueless" you are.

See you are expecting a reaction from Pilot. Now of course you are wanting them to remove the item but you really have no control over what kind of harm your lack of patronizing will do, LOL. It could cause them to go bankrupt you big spender you.

Now you want me and anyone else to join in your campaign. Of course when I explain that I feel the reason you have listed is kind of weak you start in with name calling, classic are you going to use that tactic on Pilot when they ignore your pointless letter?

I sure hope you use your real name and address when you contact those publications so everyone can let you know how brilliant you are, LOL.

Wow, from this statement I gather that you assume that the executives of Pilot have grown tired of making money and now have set out to cause harm to unsuspecting truckers (notice the highlight above). Unfortunately I have a very hard time buying into your sky is falling mentality. I highly doubt that trucker safety rates higher than making money but I also fail to believe that making things worse for drivers is a top priority either. Now this is just my guess but I assume that the Pilot execs didn't get rich making things unsafe for drivers but I would venture to say they probably made it selling things such as slim jims (which I have seen at T/A, and other truck stops along with bolt cutters, hammers, wrenches and by the way they sell fuel pumps, fuel line and wire at the T/A shop so I guess they really promote fuel theft since those items would make it relatively easy for a guy to steal fuel. See all I had to do is get as mentally creative as you and I can see boycotting the T/A shop makes sense, LOL. Not really, but I tried.

That isn't what I assume at all. What I assume, and also hope, is that the executives who run Pilot have no idea what products are offered on their own store shelves. I also hope that if enough people were to complain to those same executives, they may get the hint that this isn't a product that is needed or wanted on their shelves by the people who patronize their stores.

The only reason I can see that you would justify having this crap on a truck stop store shelf is because you either:

1. Want to use said product for legal or illegal means, or
2. Are too damn cheap to pay someone to unlock your door in the event of a lockout.

How many do you need? I've got about 20 extras....I'd gladly part with one to help you out. My laundry people hang my shirts on wire hangers and I keep them to insert in the placard holders to keep the placards in, especially in rainy weather....so I always have spares... 8) 8)
but, you're never there on the fuel island when I need you!

it's true- drove a Pete too long-- those doors are like Volvo-- can't accidentally lock yourself out-- then I changed companies- in Winter-- and first couple weeks( when a billion things are New) and they only originally give you 1 key- and try as may to keep reminding yourself to get more cut next TA you're by--- you keep jumping out of the truck- without your coat-- and where's that one key ( besides the one IN the ignition) in the coat pocket! inside the truck!

I think slim change has a very slim chance of winning this argument.

This would be a really good time to come up with a little comic strip humor related to this thread.

Cool, you quit smoking your crayons and now draw cartoons with them, there is hope for you yet.
