Do not see where I was talking down to anyone, just making a legitimate observation! Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, just to name a couple of the Texas cities are pure cesspools on the CB! The dipsticks with the 50 different roger beeps, endless echo, and over powered, over modulated radios all key up at the same time trying to out do each other, and all you get is the heterodyne squeal! An none of them know they are doing it!

An yes, there are many drivers that have no idea how to get back on 19 or 11 meter for that matter, if they bump or turn the wrong dial or push the wrong button. For that matter, the guy I helped the other day went into the wrong entrance at the Pilot in New Braunfels (yes, it is poorly marked and a pain the rear)!

Astatic mics's can be purchased for around the $20.00 mark, they only say Barjan on the back instead of Astatic! Have actually done a side-by-side - identical in everyway except the outside case!

Sorry you are confused! But would you like to stay a "dumb truck driver" (your words, not mine!) or maybe learn something ever now and again! Sorry, but I refuse to consider myself a "dumb truck driver", as many of us out there refuse to do so! I guess the "dumb truck driver's" would be the ones that fail to research the job oppurtunities, the rules of those jobs, and then come on CAD and whine and lie about how crappy they were treated, when in reality, they just refuse to follow the rules and apply basic common sense! If they had only done the foot work first! GEEZ!

I guess the dumbing down of the industry is what some want, that way they can replace the "dumb" American truck drivers, with the smarter Mexican, Indian, and other Middle Eastern drivers!

Enjoy! Don't forget, I used your words, not mine!

I'm having my 10 meter radio taken out of the truck when I get home and a regular CB put in.

I have to turn the knobs down so much to filter out 10 million people talking at once and when someone calls out, hey flatbed, your load is falling off, they are 100 freaking miles away and not talking to me. I can't take it anymore.

that's funny.

hey, I don't know if it's good news or bad...you tell me.... as of January 2009

all TV in US will be completely converted to digital. So no more high powered CB's interfering with people's evening TV or little ol ladies-- game shows & soaps.

problem is those UHF & VHF bands are suppose to go to "first responders" and "homeland security"-- I'm betting THEY aint gonna take kindly to truckers interfering with their bandwidth.

OK, sorry! Misread your post! Had just jumped over from another heavily weighted topic when I read your reply! Guess I should only read one topic a day!

Wait, then I could never keep up! Oh well!

Later!
