The absolute favourite that I ever drove was the 2002 International 9900i tri-axle day cab which I ran for a road construction outfit. 18 speed, 550 cat.. it was nice, but I had to carry OSLs with it, which was certain to attract the attention of North Carolina's DMV Enforcement. As for OTR trucks, if I paid no heed to specs, and went just on the basic design of the power unit, I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but I'd stick with the Freightliner Columbia and Century class (I drove the first for Swift, and the second for KTL). On the down side, the fuel tanks are so far forward that it puts all of that weight on your steer axles (which I'd counter by sliding the fifth wheel all the way to the back), but you get a tractor which has a good sized sleeper, and a decent sized catwalk area, but a short enough turning radius that you can still manoeuver the thing around backroads in places like NW Pennsylvania without too much difficulty. Perhaps it doesn't serve as the status symbol that a Kenworth or Peterbilt with a 265' wheelbase does, but I've always preferred function over form, anyhow.

I rather have a Peterbilt but the model would depend on what type of trailer I'd pull. But in my opinion I rather have a 386 cause the interior is like the 388/389 but without the long hood. Don't get me wrong I love the 388/389 cause I hear they are alot easier to work. But like someone said it's like a chevy/ford/dodge debate, even though I'm a chevy guy to the heart I want a Dodge 2500 with the Cummins turbo. I still say Fords suck! No resale with Fords at all!!! That is my two cents!
