The guy was acting in according to the laws of the land. Period. Who's property the flag belonged to is irrelevant. The flag was flying illegally, and he notified the proper personal (the dean of UNM) His REFUSAL to follow the LAW in according to the passage above lead the guy to correct the problem.
Dude! The law does NOT give someone the right to take the law into their own hands. ( Except as noted ).

If someone is blasting their radio at 2am, does that give you the right to go in their house and take their radio? Pull the meter on their power? NO! You call the local police and they take care of it.

And just one more little thing.....

This happened in September 2007!!!!!

So why wasn't anything done then? I'll tell you why....because NO_ONE CARED!!!

Why is it a issue now? Because some "Mexican" (remember useless stated that I'm a bigot) student group protested six months later.

Nothing more than attention. That's all this is....someone wanting media coverage.

Not only is this bull$hit, but the prosecutor needs to be fined and disbarred for misconduct. He knows the law.

I hope the judge is smart enough to quote this law, and throw this case out.

Cluggy;

I'm sorry that I called you a bigot. Bigots attempt to place one race of people above the others. I should have offered you the benefit of the doubt.

My guess is that you hate all minority groups.... separately, but equally, I'm sure!!

As for the prosecutor being fined and disbarred??

Cluggy, I hope that your knowledge of truck driving exceeds your understanding of the law!!

The owner of the flag abandon the flag.

The dean of UNM didn't care.

So who owned the flag? That is what we are arguing, right?

So I say that this man took the flag like it was a piece of litter. Once he had possessions of the flag, it was his; possessions being 9/10 of the law. So he was free to do whatever he wanted to. It, at that time, was his.

The only person who has any stake in that flag was the owner. And he left it behind. No where was the owner complaining that his flag was taken. The guy is not being charged with stealing the flag, only lowering and disposing it as he see fit.

So unless someone, somewhere, show me where the owner called the cops and complained about a missing flag, I say that the man own the flag since no-one else wanted it.

And with that in mind, he was free to do with it what he wanted.

Thanks.

I don't hate minority groups. Just people who are like this group. This is a political trial. Nothing more. It will dry up and go away in the future if it wasn't brought to the news media by this group of students who feel they have a right to fly a Mexican flag like they did. And the race card need to be torn up, along with that flag.

As far as understanding the law, I know this. The laws of this land mean exactly zero. It's all political......and I have little knowledge of political BS except that sometimes, it follows the will of the people.

And from what I have been reading on this subject, about 99% of the people responding are with this guy. So he will win, I'm sure....he's just branded as raciest.....which, in my view, is bull.

Call the local police? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Let me think how this call would go.......

Do I really have to go thru what the non-emergency would tell him? I think we, and anyone with common sence would figure out that the police wasn't going to care about this.

He went to the dean. The dean should have done something, but blew him off. He did the right thing. You may not agree, but it was the right thing, and you know it.

OK! I REALLY screwed that one up. I think I will leave it up just to show I'm human, like everyone else. I think I just covered my 6 months quota. :P

Now, of course, if I was there, the 911 call would have gone something like this.......

      Something like that...
