Default I'm sooooooooo frustrated!!!

Well, since my 17 year old son has been doing so well in college, has a part time job, and has never been in any trouble. I decided to let him get a better vehicle. the deal was he makes the payments and I pay for the insurance.
So he got a nice 2004 Blazer 4 wd. Picked it up Monday
Saturday night he was leaving his job and got a ticket for laying rubber!
He insisted that he didnt mean to, he is used to driving a 4 cylinder Escort, The cop didnt want to hear it. I told him to go to court and explain to the judge and maybe he could keep the points off his license, it's 3 point offense and in Georgia if you are under 18 4 points is a 6 month suspension.
Sooo, yesterday, he leaves for school and 10 minutes later he calls and says he got a ticket for 80 in a 55, 4 point offense!! He says he was trying to pass and the guy sped up. Guess the other guy got the last laugh..Now he has to try to convince a judge to let him keep his license. I enrolled him in defensive class and took his Blazer away, he will be driving mom's 4 cylinder if anything at all.
He has to face 2 different judges because one was in the city and one was in the county. Pretty dumb for someone who is in college studying criminal justice!!!
I got no problem not letting him drive at all. but that's more punishment for mom than him.
He better pray that he gets 2 very understanding judges.

He is waiting for his punishment and squirming and I think I like it that way. Let him worry, it will do him good.

You want some advice,

you better pray he doesn't get an understanding judge.

I will tell you why and you can disagree but with all the sisters and family members I have seen this has come to prove itself.

The ones who suffered the most in situations got the lesson learned the first time. The ones who got off over and over and over didn't learn untill it was very late.

If I was in your shoes and with a 13 year old I will be shortly. I pray the hardest consequences they can the first time. I want the judge to throw the book at him and make an example out of him.

I know that sounds harsh but it the long run,, the people that learned the lesson the first time are much better at handling themselves later on.

sorry But I know it is true

Don't do one thing for him, not one, or you will be doing it for the rest of your life.

Real love it letting the fall and make mistakes, loving them but consequences are a good thing, if you take care of everything they won't get it.

Man, Im scared of the day my kids are old enough to drive. My oldest is 14 and already has an eye on my Jeep......NO WAY!

I remember when I turned 16, my dad gave me a 1969 Olds 442 convertable with a 455. (man I wish I still had it) Unfortunately, a 16 year old and a fast car with no brakes doesnt work. It only took me about 6 months to get 4 tickets and then total it after my friend bet me I couldnt spin the tires all the way around the skating rink. I made it 1/4th the way around before hitting a wall, bending the frame and flipping it....OUCH.
After ungrounding, my next car was a 1971 VW Superbeetle....lol

Sooooooooo...Fre....does your boy remind you...of YOU ??

LOL..You know the saying..."boys will be boys"!!!

I agree with Trukrswyfe...one of those judges needs to drop a hammer on the boy's head. 25 years ago, those were antics that got a chuckle out of cop's and dad's alike. Now..with congestion and higher performance from everyday cars and suv's...not such a good thing..especially with a new driver.

I kind of agree, but who suffers the most? he goes to college 50 miles away 4 days a week and he goes to work on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, what I hope is that he judge allows to drive to those 2 places, believe me, he WONT be driving anyplace else for long long time..
And his paycheck will all be going to mom for payments and insurance, I was going to pay the insurance, but I told him when he first started driving that if he got any tickets, the insurance would become his problem..
funny thing is. he has been driving since 16 with no problems, I guess he was just showing off, and YES it does remind me of me, but that doesnt make it any easier.

Sorry to hear about your boy. He's never been in trouble and now he's making up for it, ten fold.

Maybe a 6 month suspension would do him good and let him think about "showing off" on the road. My guess was he was racing the guy doing 80 in a 55. The same situation with a friend of my mom's son, except he was the passenger. School had just let out and I think they were doing 70 in a 40mph zone. It was a bad crash scene and he is now dead. We went to the wake. It was devastating, only 17 yrs old. He was a good kid, on the football team and all. His best friend was driving and they were just having fun.

Don't mean to be so down, but it only takes a second to have your life changed forever. I know we have all done it too. Chalk it up to being young and stupid.
