I'd like to commend you HeadBorg, for displaying the kind of manners and dignity that are often lacking here. It's a shame that almost every thread gets sidetracked by a certain ilk of people who try to turn everything they touch to garbage. I've learned to ignore them, they are a waste of time and energy. A lot of that stuff was staged. I guess that TJ is now driving for Schneider here in the U.S. On the pumpkin board a driver said he ran into him at their Fontana, CA terminal and asked him about it. When TJ got hurt binding down his load he went to the hospital and the history channel made him say that he didn't have insurance so that there would be more of an effect for the show. But the truth was that he did have insurance because Canada has a national health care system.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too....maybe even Worker's Comp? he was after all injured on the job. So the big question is---if History channel wasn't Paying any of these guys( which I'd suspect Hugh Roland---had to have been getting some kind of money for letting their camera crew Ride along inside his trucks----insurance wise(he'd be responsible)) How did they "Make" TJ say stuff or Lie--- I just don't know why anyone would make crap up and not get paid for it. I mean the reunion show is a perfect example----- after they made Drew look like a moron---why would you come back and set thru a Reunion show ---for Free.

I heard that the company operating the ice road has banned commercial video and passengers for the 2008 season. History Channel will need to find a video producer who does not stereotype the drivers or stray from the reality of the way the ice road is operated. This type of reality show is no longer welcome on the ice road. Can anyone verify this?

Hah, some good points here about TJ and the insurance, I wondered about that myself. No insurance? He's a freakin Canadian.
I have the DVD set and have watched it 3 times. (I like watching my buddies drive by. haha) The super B fuel tank that had his pup go through the ice in front of Hugh was a friend of mine. As for making things seem worse than they were for effect... I totally am with everyone on that. All through it we're going... uh... could they make it seem ANY worse? I have friends that go every year and love it. Its dangerous and cold. But I have dealt with those same temps lots, just not on the ice. The only reason I haven't gone is the concern of.... washroom issues? How the heck do I pee, can't stop on the ice for 4 hours? And you can't pee on the ice anyway, you get sent home. Just wouldn't know how to deal with that. I just got an offer again to go this year, still tempting, but still....meh. I just had coffee over Christmas with the company owner of that truck that went through. I didn't realize till the third time I watched it it was his, next time I see him I'd like to find out if they approached him and asked if they could show his company name. Obviously if they did he said no.
