Default Meet Joe Francis

This week I was listening to a show on XM. I thought this was kind of interesting story about Joe francis, the guy from Girls Gone Wild. He called into the show from jail telling his story and what is happening to him. I can understand how people could be upset with him because of his movies but this is completely wrong. Here's a link to whats going on with him. Thought some might find this interesting?

Girls Gone Wild founder and CEO Joe Francis has been sitting in jail for eight months, not because he’s been convicted of a crime, but because he’s been denied his 8th Amendment Constitutional right to bail. It seems certain officials in a small Florida town are intent on making some sort of example of him.

Francis was sent to jail by a Panama City, Florida judge because he would not settle a civil (for money) lawsuit brought against him by a lawyer who happened to be the judge’s friend and ex-law partner. The judge found Francis in civil contempt of court for not settling the lawsuit but cited no legal basis for ordering Francis to jail in a civil matter

why would he be a flight risk? just because he has his own jet and millions of dollars. that doesnt mean anything. I'm sure he can be trusted.
He has called in to 2 different shows on Sirius also looking for pity. I say, let him rot.

he said he didnt know that you couldnt have drugs in jail because nobody told him. yea right, he is a lying piece of garbage and he deserves to be in jail, either that or let the fathers of the under-aged girls he duped have him, that would be fair and just punishment

So if a Judge tells you to settle a Civil lawsuit for $70,000,000 with 7 girls who lied about their age you should do it? Sounds more like extortion to me?

While I'm no fan of Joe, a judge can't ORDER you to settle. As a defendant you have the RIGHT to a trial either by judge or jury. ( Your chioce ). No I didn't read the story. Just setting the record straight on rights.
