In memory of The Edmund Fitzgerald
#11
Somebody should write a song to honor the memory of that brave crew. I think I would get somebody like Gordon Lightfoot to sing it.
NAW... I spent two years in the US Navy on a salvage ship, much smaller than the Fitz and I can't even imagine the horror that they went through.

IIRC, Gordon Lightfoot wrote the song Edmund Fitzgerald after he read an article in a newspaper that had misspelled the name of the ship.

Do we all recognize that these were our brothers? We are ALL in the "transportation" industry. And like them, we all think we are in control of our "ship." But mother nature can have a fit now and then.... and WE are all that stands between HER and Death! Somewhere, today.... they are ringing the bells in rememberance. Tomorrow, they will fire guns or cannon for the War dead. The great thing about our society, is that we remember our dead! And, of course, we support the unborn! Now.... if we could just learn to care about the LIVING!
