Sprint does me good. Verizon is not truly "unlimited"- they will either terminate or surchrage your account for heavy use.

I just last week ran into the first location where I didn't have any service at all- Foreman, Arkansas. Previously, no matter where I was I always had enough signal to at least get dial-up speeds to check my e-mail.

MY best d/l speed has been +/-1700 down in Belton, TX of all places. El Dorado, AR ironically has had the best signal (-60dB) but no EVDO coverage.

Get a Wilson mirror-mount cell-phone antenna. You can often boost from 2-3 bars to 6 anywhere. If you're really a pimp get a Wilson in-line amp and solve your signal problems pretty much for good.

However, something to watch for, and this probably goes with every carrier: When you're close to the border, keep an eye on your next bill. Sprint has billed me for international calls FROM Mexico (including International Data). Apparently the towers have a better signal in Mexico than the US and the cell phone and data card both pick those first. All it's taken was a call to customer service to have those charges dropped.
I have never gotten broadband connections any of the dozens of times I've been in El Paso. It doesn't matter whether you are on the west side the east side or in the middle, no broadband with sprint.

Not sure.. but all I can tell you is stay away from the Pilot's wireless service.. I made the mistake of signing up with them when I was parked there one night.. signed up for the 24 hour access and never thought anything else about it... about 8 months later I was going through my bank statements and found that they had been charging me I think $22.00 per month for the past 8 months and I never even used it again after that one time... when I contacted them they apologized, however they would only remove the most recent charge and said there was nothing they could do about the other 7....

I'll never stay at another Pilot again

I used Pilot's service 1 time as well. I couldn't have been parked any closer to the building than where I was, but the speed was horrific. I think 2 tin cans and a string would've been faster service. I've also used T/A a couple of times - it wasn't tooooo bad. However, I'll stick with my Sprint

I've had the Verizon card for 2 years. I've never been billed a minute and I've never been shut down for using it too much, and believe me, I use the hell out of it. I don't even have internet service to my house any more, I use my verizon card. Its as fast as any, regardless of what the guy at the sprint booth in the TA tries to tell you. I pay 59.99 plus all the taxes, surcharges, bs they add on. I've never not been able to connect. But some places are faster than others for sure.

I have the Sprint U720 Broadband Card for a year and it works flawlessly, just do the software updates when they are available. I use it everywhere I go, would recommend Sprint or Verizon only.

I've used my Sprint up there. It gets broadband speed in the cities and suburbs, just like at home. The only catch is that the international roaming can get wicked expensive if you don't watch your usage. It's 2/10 of a cent per kilobyte. Adds up in a hurry.

I've been using Verizon with a wireless card- it's actually exactly like the clerk at Best Buy said it would be - sometimes it can be slow but I pretty much always have a reception. Only rarely will I get no signal.

Overall I'm okay with it - no complaints
