Who has the best wireless internet?
 

I have Alltel for my wireless service in my truck but I'm not very happy with it. Is there a better one out there?

I use sprint and could not be happier.......good service almost everywhere.......$60 a month for unlimited service

Same here - Sprint unlimited, but somehow I got a deal at $49.99/month. I loooooove it.

Pretty much it is going to be between Sprint and Verizon.

I know many who have one or the other and the all are happy with who they are with.

Sprint. $59.99 a month and card was free.

The mods can whack this one if I'm not supposed to link to another forum, but a few of us have been doing our best to compile some real data regarding download speeds and such from the various wireless carriers. It seems that Sprint (which I use) is the most common provider, and I have been happy with the service more often than not. Around the end of last year, a whole lot of places went from slow to fast as they did a big upgrade. It isn't exactly a thorough and scientific approach, but every little bit of info is useful. In some places (El Paso, e.g.), AT&T is fast and Sprint is slow. In others (my hometown, e.g.) Sprint is fast and AT&T is slow.

Anyone can feel free to log in and add data to that thread, BTW. The more info, the better. I update the map whenever I'm not feeling too lazy.

I'll have to disagree with the speeds in El Paso and Laredo with Sprint. While there I've had a high speed connection each and every time, with an average download of >120k/sec.

However, something to watch for, and this probably goes with every carrier: When you're close to the border, keep an eye on your next bill. Sprint has billed me for international calls FROM Mexico (including International Data). Apparently the towers have a better signal in Mexico than the US and the cell phone and data card both pick those first. All it's taken was a call to customer service to have those charges dropped.

I use a Sprint aircard, and have not had any issues except - for some reason the account was set up with a voicemail, and I have been charged for incoming calls on it. Finally got that worked out this last bill. Also had the international thing blocked.

120k sounds about right for Laredo. That's not very fast though, unless you're just browsing text. The El Paso reading was taken at our yard, which sits on the outskirts of town off exit 35. It might be faster in town, but at our yard it's ridiculously slow.

I got hit with a bunch of those 1 minute incoming calls on my last bill too. I've had the service for a year and a half and this is the first time that happened. They took it off the bill, but only after I argued with the Englishly-challenged lady on the phone for a while.
