Hey, none of our drivers are whining about not being able to afford good medical insurance. Drivers get the same great medical insurance I have.

Perhaps getting rid of things you dont need like internet, cable tv, beer and other crap and then buy insurance would be a good idea.
Or maybe you could just look for a better job that offers good health insurance.
Not all insurance is cheap. My wife works for a large school district as a teacher. To have her, myself and our two kids on a HMO costs $1000 a month. So her $45000 a year salary really turns out to $33000 with the insurance. And that HMO is the CHEAPEST they offer!

Having worked in the health care industry in EMS, our system is OK until you need major care. It is then that you will find just how broken it really is. IMHO, the health care industry should be non-profit, not socialized. All the proceeds should be re-invested into the system and not to investors.

There is a rather large health care system, that those in the Austin area would know of, called Seton. They are a catholic healthcare provide with 10 hospitals, their own pharmacys and another 16 clinics. They provide exceptional care and will write off the balance for those who can't afford the cost and do not have insurance. They are able to continue to expand and not use investors. It can be done across America. But until a brave politician steps up to do this we will continue to inflate profits for health care that is sub-par at best.

Sheepdancer I worked for GE Capital the LARGEST Leaseing company in the WORLD. They lease stuff like Aircraft Trucks Locomotives and other large equipment. I had their top teir plan at a cost of 120 per week for my wife and I every 2 weeks. It was decent until you needed a specialist then you had to go thru 50 hoops to see one. In order for me just to see one Neurologist it took 4 months and that was on an EMERGANCY REFERRAL. I now am on Medicare since being declared disabled and if I need to see a specialist no referrals needed WHICH PLAN IS BETTER ONE WHERE IT TAKES 4 MONTHS TO GET THAT LETTER SAYING YOU CAN SEE ONE OR CALL THE DOCTOR UP AND GO SEE HIM. What Hillary is actually proposing IF YOU WOULD READ THE PROPOSAL IS THE SAME CARE THAT THE CONGRESS MEMBERS GET.

Ironeagle, unfortunately you and I both know that this plan will never happen IF she would take office. No "health plan" proposed by ANY of the blow hard presidential candidates has EVER happened. It's all BS. If you take money from Medicaid the minorities get pissed, if you take money from Medicare the seniors get pissed. And don't even dare mess with Social Security, my God! This country is in for a very rude awakening one day real soon. All of these entitlement programs are going broke quick and no one wants to take on the problem for fear of losing voters.

You know sheepdancer, you assume everyone has the skills to go out and get a great job. Let me tell you that getting a great job isn't always easy. I worked my way up through doing OTR to where I am today to get a local job that pays pretty decent. Some people grow up in crappy environments and you know what if all you know is one way of life because that's the way you were taught by your parents then that's what you'll end up doing most of the time. Universal care for people is a way of getting rid of the insurance companies right to deny you coverage even though you may have cancer, or a pre-exsisting condition. I think you need to realize that people's lives aren't perfect and they make mistakes and I'm sure you've made a few in your life time. Does that mean they should be punished if they have a heart attack and don't have insurance? I believe they shouldn't be, it's not a matter of conservative or socialist. It's a matter of compassion for a fellow human being.

Why would "minorities" get mad?
Here in Texas, minorities make up 52% of Medicaid's participants, versus 33% nationwide. Anytime Bush threatens to cut funding to Medicaid various groups that represent minority interests(ie NAACP, ACLU) come out in the media against those cuts. Apparently, I overlooked something in the Constitution about Medicaid, but the ACLU caught it for me and filed suit to block cuts in 2003 for "thousands of legal immigrants."

Personally, I agree with Bush and that such entitlement(ie welfare and Medicare) programs should be abolished. That money could be better spent on providing real health care solutions for this country. "Public Assistance" programs really don't "assist" anyone.

I hope this answered your question.

No, I would believe the complete opposite of that statement. In a free country people are free NOT to give themselves the skills to get a great job.
I think you need to realize that people's lives aren't perfect and they make mistakes and I'm sure you've made a few in your life time. Does that mean they should be punished if they have a heart attack and don't have insurance
I can ask you the same thing. Do you think the taxpayers should be punsished for other peoples mistakes? Do you think I and my family should be punished by lowering my standard of healthcare so some person who made mistakes can have a little better healthcare?
Face it, he liberal mentality in this country is to redistribute the wealth. To punish the successful and reward failure. I will be happy to help the needy or anyone needing insurance. But Im not for giving them free money or services for doing nothing. If I happen to run into someone in trouble financially, Im happy to sit down with them and help them find SOLUTIONS to that problem. Guess what? Those solutions will NEVER come from the government or the taxpayer.

Again, if any liberal can explain to me how universal healthcare isnt going to raise my taxes or lower the standard of the healthcare I purchase for myself and my family, I will be happy to listen. However all I keep hearing from the democrats its things like what Hillary said. "We are going to take things from you on the behalf of the common good."
AGAIN, THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME!

Well, again, cut all the fraud and waste from Medicare/Medicaid, and require competitive bidding on the services. You will save 10's of $BILLIONS each year.
But, if you wish ALL people to have PRIVATE medical insurance, the solution is very simple. Have the corporations RAISE their employees wages to the point where the employees can afford to purchase private insurance of their own. Then your employer won't have to subsidize your families health care and can re-invest that money into the company.

If anyone believes either of these will ever happen, please contact me and my friend the Easter Bunny, as we have a really great investment opportunity for you.
