Or maybe you could just look for a better job that offers good health insurance. Having worked in the health care industry in EMS, our system is OK until you need major care. It is then that you will find just how broken it really is. IMHO, the health care industry should be non-profit, not socialized. All the proceeds should be re-invested into the system and not to investors. There is a rather large health care system, that those in the Austin area would know of, called Seton. They are a catholic healthcare provide with 10 hospitals, their own pharmacys and another 16 clinics. They provide exceptional care and will write off the balance for those who can't afford the cost and do not have insurance. They are able to continue to expand and not use investors. It can be done across America. But until a brave politician steps up to do this we will continue to inflate profits for health care that is sub-par at best.

Sheepdancer I worked for GE Capital the LARGEST Leaseing company in the WORLD. They lease stuff like Aircraft Trucks Locomotives and other large equipment. I had their top teir plan at a cost of 120 per week for my wife and I every 2 weeks. It was decent until you needed a specialist then you had to go thru 50 hoops to see one. In order for me just to see one Neurologist it took 4 months and that was on an EMERGANCY REFERRAL. I now am on Medicare since being declared disabled and if I need to see a specialist no referrals needed WHICH PLAN IS BETTER ONE WHERE IT TAKES 4 MONTHS TO GET THAT LETTER SAYING YOU CAN SEE ONE OR CALL THE DOCTOR UP AND GO SEE HIM. What Hillary is actually proposing IF YOU WOULD READ THE PROPOSAL IS THE SAME CARE THAT THE CONGRESS MEMBERS GET.

You know sheepdancer, you assume everyone has the skills to go out and get a great job. Let me tell you that getting a great job isn't always easy. I worked my way up through doing OTR to where I am today to get a local job that pays pretty decent. Some people grow up in crappy environments and you know what if all you know is one way of life because that's the way you were taught by your parents then that's what you'll end up doing most of the time. Universal care for people is a way of getting rid of the insurance companies right to deny you coverage even though you may have cancer, or a pre-exsisting condition. I think you need to realize that people's lives aren't perfect and they make mistakes and I'm sure you've made a few in your life time. Does that mean they should be punished if they have a heart attack and don't have insurance? I believe they shouldn't be, it's not a matter of conservative or socialist. It's a matter of compassion for a fellow human being.

Personally, I agree with Bush and that such entitlement(ie welfare and Medicare) programs should be abolished. That money could be better spent on providing real health care solutions for this country. "Public Assistance" programs really don't "assist" anyone. I hope this answered your question.

Face it, he liberal mentality in this country is to redistribute the wealth. To punish the successful and reward failure. I will be happy to help the needy or anyone needing insurance. But Im not for giving them free money or services for doing nothing. If I happen to run into someone in trouble financially, Im happy to sit down with them and help them find SOLUTIONS to that problem. Guess what? Those solutions will NEVER come from the government or the taxpayer. Again, if any liberal can explain to me how universal healthcare isnt going to raise my taxes or lower the standard of the healthcare I purchase for myself and my family, I will be happy to listen. However all I keep hearing from the democrats its things like what Hillary said. "We are going to take things from you on the behalf of the common good." AGAIN, THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME!

Well, again, cut all the fraud and waste from Medicare/Medicaid, and require competitive bidding on the services. You will save 10's of $BILLIONS each year.
But, if you wish ALL people to have PRIVATE medical insurance, the solution is very simple. Have the corporations RAISE their employees wages to the point where the employees can afford to purchase private insurance of their own. Then your employer won't have to subsidize your families health care and can re-invest that money into the company. If anyone believes either of these will ever happen, please contact me and my friend the Easter Bunny, as we have a really great investment opportunity for you. |
