The FCC is not worried about Billy Big Rigger no matter what Radio Ray would have you believe. Here's some stats for the last ten years regarding the FCC's criminal actions.

Raids: 111
Visits: 525
Arrests/Convictions/Sentencings: 20
Postal Contacts(warning letters): 292
Seizures: 113
Unknown Actions: 5
Notice of Proposed Fines: 88 for $1,060,400
Actual Fines: 70 for $687,550
Avg. Fine per Action: $564

So as you can see, a whopping 20 people were arrested in the last 10 years. Also these statistics include ALL of the enforcement actions of the FCC to include everyting from pirate radio stations to unlicensed HAM operators. So the odds of even getting caught are pretty slim at best. Unless of course you live next to a snitch with nothing better to do with their time. Even then, the most you're likely to get is a threatening letter.

OK, well it seems there are the know it alls - so after this I am done with this string.

The guys that are operating and/or incourage the operation of the illegal radios - be it they modified CB's, 10 meter or running linears - are the same guys that run illegal - i.e. multiple or loose leaf logs, speed thru construction zones, recreational drugs and the multitudes of other activities that keep getting increased regulation stuffed down our throats by the FMCSA, constant criticism from the likes of Public Citizen, PATT, CRASH and other multiple personality organizations.

The same guys that talk trash and foul language on the Citizens Band (yes, Citizens Band, not Truck Trash Radio) that the average motoring public can listen too, and say: "Wow, those truckers are trashy scum", instead of what use to be the White Knights of the Road.

So keep trashing our industry with all the illegal activity, cause many of you (and maybe even me) will not have jobs before too long, with the Mexican border opening and all. Hmm, get me thinking, you guys think you have big radios, heck, some of those Mexican trucks have radios that can talk to the moon.

And yes, if any of your BS is interfering with my communication and training as a EmComm volunteer, I will be more than happy to drop a dime on your activities. Snitch, NO, just a law abiding citizen and PROFESSIONAL Truck Driver.

And do not even try to say you cannot make money running legally, that is total BS.

Good night and Best Wishes!

Ok - let's see if I got this right:

If you run an illegal radio, you drive illegal.
If your radio is legal, you drive 100% legal.

I don't run my radio at all - where's that put me?

Then your not driving. Simple logic for simple people, eh? :P :P

So why don't you get an amateur radio license the test is not that difficult.
Just drop by the local Radio Shack and pick up the book Now You're Talking read it and take the practice tests. When you think you're ready, find a local amateur radio club and find out when the next test session is, take the test and get the license. Then you can chat with truckers all over the world not just the handful in a truck stop.

I have a license. No one ever bothered to ask... Ray just assumes that anyone who runs a 10 meter doesnt have one. I guess he thinks he is the only one smart enough to get one. there are 6 drivers were I work and we all all have them and we all have licenses. and we dont talk on the 28 mhz band

That's all fine and good but why not offer up the information from the start.
