10 meter

do you care if truckers use 10 meter radios?

Sizzle 08-28-2007 09:19 PM

At the risk of appearing totally ignorant. Oops, guess I am since I have to ask. Is a 10 meter-a Bay Station? :) 8)

Im still trying to figure out how a drivers fits a 10 meter radio in his cab.
Doesnt 10 meters equal about 33 feet? That a big dang ole radio.

Sizzle 08-28-2007 09:36 PM

No way!

Sheepdancer, you are kidding right? No way, it can't mean the size....

That's funny.

Now seriously, you need to ask your shop about that. I hear the truckers who have those big radios, but from what I know, some draw more than others. I guess as long as your power supply is good enough, your shop shouldn't have a problem. But sometimes, they do.

Now, does your radio include CB channels, or are you just trying to remain on the amatuer side of radio? And do you need a licence for that, being that it's capable of doing more?

And to all of those who didn't know what a 10 meter radio is (including myself :D ), here is a link:

Thanks for the site. I knew it had to be a bay station. Wow, good guess for a person with no radio experience. Except for the fact that someone ripped me off and didn't peak and tune mine like they said they did. Oh, and the same jerk ruined by Mike by allegedly fixing it when nothing was wrong with him. SIGH!! Won't give up the jerk here but suffice it to say that I won't go back. :) 8)

There's nothing but crap on the regular 40 cb channels now - why in the hell would I want even more channels of crap?

Cluggy619 08-28-2007 10:17 PM

Well, I got to digging around on the net about this, and I think I might have one of these 10 meter radios. Mine is a Super Star 3900, and I bought this from a guy about 2 years ago for $60. Peak and tuned, Bands A-F, wi the setting of CW,FM,AM,USB,LSB.... not really sure what it all does, but it got a nice sound to it, and a little of power, so I've been told.

I guess I'll have to learn more about how to use it now.

Malakai Touche'. I agree 100%. There was a jerk on a Bay Station in Grand Rapids, MI when I recently went through. He was insighting all of us. I tried to get him back but he wouldn't stop harassing us. I had to finally turn the C.B. off which I hate to do-because it's always the worst time like when you need to know something in front of you. Someone said, this guy has no life and he just gets on the radio because he wants to argue. Those people are REALLY BORED.

Those of you with them-I thought there's some regulation or something that we aren't supposed to have anything over a certain power "range" in our trucks? Although, I guess they'd have to look at them to tell right?
:) 8)
