well if the shoe was on the other foot and I was trying to cross a border to work and feed my family i would hope i could be supported somehow by those who i was "hurting" by crossing the border, dont get me wrong i dont like the fact that you know thousands are crossing illegally every week. But, i couldnt hold that against the ones who want to come here and provide for there family.

Part of the problem??? this wasnt even an issue b4 9/11

Is it ok to steal/fake identity so they can work to feed their families? You would feel differently if it was YOUR identity that was being used. Even if this bill passes it will not stop a damn thing. Here on the borderland you can go to any school and see how many Mexican licensed vehicles are dropping off their kids for a free AMERICAN education while our property taxes rise. Hungry are they, let 'em eat crow or take it up with their own government. Oh I forgot , it's easier to come here, stupid me......

 

I don’t think it makes a difference if these people are legal or not, most people in this country think that a good or better life only applies to them!
I mean white skinned only! My father came to this country from England and does this make my father better or worse than people from south of the border??? He still wanted a better life! Remember where your families came from, it sure wasn’t from here! I like the people that say well my mom or dad are 1/2 Indian, this seems to make them feel better about the other 1/2 of their family who in their eyes, makes it ok to be here, but screw the Mexican people they are not allowed here like the bitching peoples ancestors were years ago!!! Go figure........lol

 

The focus of this is on...Amnesty for Illegal Aliens...and that is primarily an Illegal Mexican population, bringing this issue about.

I don't see where it is an issue of prejudice.
It is about people who choose to not follow the laws everyone else has to follow....and create this HUGE problem....and now what do we do about it.

Are there some immigrants from England (insert nationality) here illegally...I'm certain there are many. So...on that point...it is not entirely a Mexican immigration issue....but it IS primarily a Mexican immigration problem....(by the enormous numbers)

My ancestors came from Italy and Germany. They happened to do it legally, and I remember my Grandma (Nana) struggling to learn to speak English. (with heavy hand gesturing)

Although my Mother would speak Italian in the home...Grandma would scold her if she spoke it outside the home.

My family was dirt poor. They didn't fit in. But they were too proud to take a hand out..without every effort to work harder to do better, and by God pay their taxes, serve in the Community, and in time of War step up and take the call, (BTW...we are in a time of War right now...and a little short-handed) ...and follow the laws of the land. Pride and Respect, not always a bad thing.

I'm certain what I say can be parsed, pasted, proven wrong with a multitude of exactly how wrong or stupid I am.

I do not feel an Italian has more right to be a citizen here than a Mexican. You know what...I have friends and family (brother-in-law) of Spanish decent. None of them are criminals....and poor is poor...I never placed a face on that either.

First of all, let me explain to you all a little about how business works. Or, should I say how business OWNERS work...

It is all about money folks. There wouldn't be any illegals in this country if there were not cheap employers who want them, PERIOD... If you want to point fingers, start pointing them at the business owners who are hiring these illegals in the first place!...

They say that the illegals are doing the jobs Americans won't do... That is such a load of Bull, you wouldn't believe it...

The only reason Americans won't do those jobs, is because the business owners don't want to pay decent (living) wages, offer health benefits, etc...

No educated person working in America today is going to cut their own throat by taking a job that doesn't pay well, or well enough to put a roof over their head, clothes on their back, and food on the table. Along with health benefits. Because this country being as screwed up as it is, refuses to deal with the reality of it's human services responsibilities to those Legal Americans who need, and deserve them.

Are you aware that while the US Gov. has continued to spend billions on the war in Iraq, and elsewhere. They've cut more than 40 million dollars from health, and human services.

Home prices are going up, fuel costs are going up, food costs are going up. If your not making millions, your probably 1 pay check away from ruin. What happens to you, and or, your family if you get hurt, and can't work?... Doesn't mean you got hurt on the job either. What if you had a car accident on your "private" time?...

You would get very little in insurance money, and if you ended up disabled, how do you think you would then be able to earn a living again?

Our wonderful Federal Gov. thinks people who have worked all their lives and end up in bad situations should just up and die, rather than the government that is supposed to work for them. Dare to actually give them the services they have paid taxes for over their entire working lives.

Did you know that 80% of woman in the US will retire to POVERTY!... It is like I said in another thread, you work all your life, and in the end Government takes it all away from you. Because the price of life continues to go up. You lose it all if you dare to retire. Because the taxes, etc., won't stop going up, just because you retired, or can't work anymore.

This country is being run by business, and in business the goal is to make as much money as you can, while you can, and retire early, if you can, while screwing the little guy out of HIS, or HER American Dream...

Agriculture, and service businesses, and other industry that have been depending on illegals to do the work, like an illegal drug. Have created this problem. They don't want to pay fair wages, offer benefits, because it would run up their overhead, and cut into their profits. It is all about GREED! PURE GREED!....

Plus if it is Agriculture, you would be paying $5.00 a gallon for Milk, if not more. You would pay a lot more for your fast food, or restaurant visits. You would be paying much more than you are now for your clothing, and groceries. If Agricultural businesses actually did the right thing, and paid decent wages, and benefits to legal Americans, you wouldn't be able to afford the basic needs in this country...

So, what do you want????? No more illegals, and fair wages for legal Americans to do those so called unwanted jobs?

Or, do you want to go with the status quo?...

Yes, they could cut into your trucking jobs. Don't you realize that busines if they can find a cheaper way to ship, make, build, or produce something they will do it, to cut their overhead, and increase profits?!...

American businesses are actually anti American. Why? Because the very people they want to buy their products, services, etc (Americans)... Will soon not be able to afford too. Because these companies have shipped all their manufacturing jobs, and other jobs that used to offer good wages, and benefits to Americans, over seas, to China, India, and other regions. Where they can do the same thing, screw the people of those countries out of fair wages, and benefits, and avoid environmental laws. So, they can make their products cheaper there, to sell back here in the US...

It really is an infuriating topic. Because really American businesses are against America, and cut their own throats in the long run. You can't sell you goods, and services to Americans if you've taken away their ability to earn a decent living, and have a decent standard of living, to be able to buy your goods, and services...

Ugh.... I'm worn out talking about this topic. Because it is so ridiculous, it just gives you a migraine headache...

This country has yet to figure out how to balance, not only business, but it's social needs, and all the other problems in this country. So that life would be better, easier, less stressful, happier, and you wouldn't feel like hamster in a wheel going no where. Wondering what the heck your working for in the long run... Anyway, that's all I have to say about this topic. GRRRRR...

I think illegals no matter who they are should be sent packing. I think American business should be heavily fined, and forced to increase their wages, and offer decent benefit packages. I think that life should be fair, but, it isn't...

In reality as well, none of us is really a legal citizen of this country anyway. We all came over to this country, stole away the land, and natural resources from the Native American Indian, and now complain when others do exactly what we've all done through the centuries in this country.

The sad thing is that those coming here are looking for that biggest of fairy tales, the "American Dream"... Well, thanks to a lot of incompetent, ignorant Politicians the American Dream has been flushed right down the toilet. The American Dream is gone folks, and either you can get used to it. Or, if your so inclined you can do something about it, to change it.

But, I will say this, as long as we are a capitalist society, the possibility of getting back the American Dream, will be nothing more than a romantisized myth...

The fact is that unless you have a lot of brains, a college education, or some gimick that people will buy. Your on the losing end of the American Dream. Because simply working hard, just doesn't get you there anymore.
