Truckout April 23-25
#42
Well - it's the 23rd - how's the 'truckout' going? I just ran from northern WV down I-79 to I-77, across to Winston-Salem and south on I73. Looks like the normal amount of trucks to me out here.
Ya - it's working

The poor uninformed person who wrote this, does not nor did he/she/it know that transportation matters belong to the Dept. of Transportation. They are the ones that made the decision to allow uninspected, illegal persons driving our highways. Do not blame our President for anything till you do have the facts. Damned idiot making accusations about things that they heard from 4th hand.
Now, you tell me how doubling up trucks in the beltway is going to help things? All it is going to do is make things very difficult for those of us that drive local and use I-495 to get around. You would be better off going to the people who can actually do some good. OOIDA is a good one to talk to. YOu will never get enough drivers to double up and drive the beltway for any amount of time.

The US is simply living up to its obligations. The trucks are inspected every time they cross. The drivers are 100% legal. Looks like you're the one thats misinformed.

The President is the head of the Executive Branch. The DOT and FMCSA are bureaucracies UNDER the Executive Branch. The Mexican truck access has been asked for and urged on by this President to comply with provisions in the NAFTA Treaty. Bush has pushed much harder for this than Clinton. I don't recall that Clinton pushed at all for this. Yes, Bush is largely responsible for bringing this to a head. He wants very much to get this program in place and has fought against the Supreme Court, using his Appointed United States Attorney General, that overruled the initial plans. It then went before Congressional review to insure that safety and regulatory provisions were in place before implementation. Congress found it had not done so (The DOT and FMCSA) which ordered them to go back and get it right. The DOT and FMCSA then returned last fall to say that all had been done, but has yet to offer proof. If you had a plan to make this work right, would you be so hesitant to share your golden ideas with the Congress and the Trucking Industry? I think not. Therefore, in my opinion, the plan is not complete, probably sucks and they DOT and FMCSA are simply pushing the Bush agenda thru regardless of the costs and consequences.

TRUCKER'S RALLY PREVENTED FOR MOVING FORWARD
WAS THERE GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE THAT CONSPIRED TO PREVENT THE TRUCKER'S RALLY FROM PROTESTING AT WASHINGTON D.C. CAPITOL AND AROUND THE NATION ? TODAY, AS OUR TRUCKERS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS LINED UP TO GET ONTO THE D.C. BELTWAY, REPORTS COMING IN HAVE INFORMED US THAT THE TRUCKERS WERE TOLD BY THE D.C. POLICE THAT IF THE TRUCKERS WERE NOT CARRYING A VALID LOAD WITH A PROPER BILL OF LADING AND TRIED TO ACCESS THE D.C. BELTWAY, THEY WOULD BE TICKETED. ALL THE BIG RIG TRAFFIC TRYING TO ACCESS THE D.C. BELTWAY WAS AVERTED AWAY FROM THE BELTWAY.

So much for Martin Luther Kings legacy of actually getting arrested for his beliefs, what a bunch of crybabies! If they were serious about this (and they weren't) they would have gone anyway as a show of civil disobedience and taken it to court. Of course court is where things can actually change and the proper venue has never been in these boycott ding-a-ling's vocabulary.
I did hear a blurb on the local news about some action by trucks going on in Oklahoma City, but haven't looked it up yet..
