POWER: GORE MANSION USES 20X AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD; CONSUMPTION INCREASE AFTER 'TRUTH'
Mon Feb 26 2007 17:16:14 ET

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:

Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

Not to mention his private jet usage.

He apparently buys "polution credits". In other words he "pays" for his pollution.

In other words, pollution is okay if you're rich, but if you aren't, you better change your whole life or you will destroy the world!!!

DON'T YOU GET IT!?!? YOU ARE DESTROYING THE WORLD!!!!!!!!! YOU NEED TO GIVE US ALL YOUR MONEY TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER!! SALVATION COMES IN HIGHER TAXES!

ALL YOUR MONEY ARE BELONG TO US.

This is nonsense. Such an animal does not exist for private citizens.

This is probably true, either way Al Gore should practice what he's preaching.
My personal opinion of Al Gore is, what a douche bag.

My previous statement may have been wrong. I read an article that referenced this residential carbon credit, but haven't been able to find any specifics.

If anyone has specifics -- please share. It's becoming common in the corporate world, I wasn't aware it's being applied to homeowners.

AlGore isn't your average homeowner. He has access to privileges that you or I could never get.

Heard about this on the news this morning. I voted for Gore back '00 so I'm not exactly a Gore-basher, but this does prove what hypocrites politicians are. He says alright though, because "it's renewable energy".

The global warming 'croud' are a group of people that enjoy massive taxes and practice the theory of "Do as I say, not as I do" teaching.

The proponents of the global warming hysteria are mainly millionaires who are an oxymoron in their own lifestyle. They are hypocrites and cannot be trusted.

Remeber, these are the same people now saying that denying global warming is equivilant to denying the Holocaust! LOL! Far-left liberals at their finest with nothing more to live for in life b/c they would rather have man / man or woman / woman raising a child then a man / woman.

First off the Tennessee Center for Policy Research is a right wing organization. Tennessee Center's President Drew Johnson comes straight out of the right's network, coming from Exxon-funded American Enterprise Institute and the right-wing-funded National Taxpayers Foundation. The Center's vice president, Nicole Williams was (is) an employee of the Cascade Policy Institute, a major right wing organization based in Oregon.

Next, renewable energy is from the wind, solar, etc. and is available from the Tennessee Valley Authority under their "Green Power Switch" program. http://www.tva.gov/greenpowerswitch/ Gore uses all renewable energy.

We'll be seeing lots more of these right wing nut job groups whose sole function is to spread disinformation about global warming.
