Yeah, not very many Texas towns are at the bottom of a massive hill, either. :P

Like anyone CARES what a TEXAS town bans, anyway!!

Pretty soon, we'll be giving them back to Mexico, and it will be THEIR problem!

1) The new "trend" of flicking on the hi-beams to let someone know they're clear after passing. We need to let everyone know to stop doing this.

2) i don't have a problem with drivers leaving the headlights on; The company is paying for the lights or driver if O/O.

3) Pointing the CB antenae foward; Drivers say "so they won't hit a low bridge. This is Bull$hit----they are only doing it to look cool.

4) taking too long in the fuel island; Anything more than 7 minutes after you've hung up the pumps is too long.

The real reason for pointing your antenae forword is so when you are driving at highway speeds, they do not bend back and hit the stacks. This obviously only applies to the trucks with the side mounted stacks only and not your normal fleet truck though.

And I am also curious as to where you came up with 7 min. I say enough time to take a quick wiz, grab your free coffee and you reciept. It might take you 5 min. one day and 10 min the next, depending on how busy the t/s is.

A pet peeve, well I have many. Don't worry, I won't post all.

1. A slower truck jumping in front of a faster truck.

2. Above, but the slow truck gives a jersey signal instead of a normal one (to give the faster truck enough time to safely slow down without having to slam the brakes).

Can list a few more but just don't feel like it.

i arrived at the 7 minute rating based on the time it takes to sign the fuel ticket, get something to eat at a fast food place or convience store portion of the T/S (no sit down type places) and to quickly use the restroom UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS; This means no lines anywhere and as far as the bathroom, it's to take a leak. I think a driver ought to be able to do all three things under 7 minutes.
I also belive that this is how long it would reasonably take a driver (like the one behind you) to fuel both tanks of a tractor. And, also, possibly to clean the windshield off etc.

How many times have you finished fueling only to see the doors of the trailer ahead of you? It's not nice. Become a knight/knightess of the highway again. We need to get back to that.

This means, we, as drivers must determine wether conditions are ideal. And, if not, the we should park the truck and then walk back in to do whatever we need to do out of consideration for other drivers even if they drive for swift or something.

2) Alright i take back the CB antenae thing; You do what you want; It's your truck. If you want to put all the pimpy chrome crap all over it, so be it. It's your rig, knock yourself out.

3) But i'd say my biggest gripe of all is people knocking on your door for stupid $hit. And this includes other drivers. Nobody respects the trucker's need for sleep---including other drivers.
I could see if it is an emergency---such as you are blocking something.

But, let's say you get to a reciever early am and the place don't open until say 8am but you don't have any set apointment. I feel it is rude for the reciever to wake you up as soon as they get there in the morning. I say let the trucker sleep until s/he is ready to deliver. If you had a set appointment hour, then ok. But in this case, you don't.

Good way to not get a wake up at a receivers or shippers is to stay off their property, problem solved... Sometimes space is a problem.
Another reason for the antennas to be tilted forward is some mirrors are a bit lower than the roof on the cab of the truck, and can cause a problem with reflection from the cab. I am not a expert but I have a friend who makes a very popular antenna on the market and he says it makes a difference on certain trucks!
I don't have anyone knocking on my door unless I am in the drivers seat, then I just ignore them!
You need to CHILL a little, from the looks of it, you will soon pop a cork!!
Why RUSH, don't get behind me, if it takes 10 minutes that's what it takes, don't be is such a hurry, slow down and smell the coffee and wait your turn...lol

1) True, but let's say that there is no other place to park near the reciever so you end up at the reciever. Security is there of course, but no one else gets in until the morning.

Why would the people (recieving crew) assume that you would want to be unloaded right away? I mean if that were true, then wouldn't you wake yourself up using an alarm clock? Do they not realize that you had to drive all night to get there?

2) i resigned my complaints about CB antanae. Drivers can mount them anyway they want and it's cool by me. I just didn't like how some people were doing it only to be cool. To be supertruckers etc.
But, after thinking about it, if it makes you happy, then more power to you.

3) i'm not rushing. It's just that alot of times it takes much longer than 7-10 minutes and this is plum unacceptable; Some drivers will go to the buffet, take showers etc.

I mean, if you can't park in the lot and then walk in. Then you need to get one of those motorized wheelchairs or something.

We need to become knights of the highway again.

When posters re-register under various names and still post the same crap in the same style. A prime example comes to mind.... Chad, Ron, Toon and Louie Fiend, all the same poster.

Seems like I "heard" a while back that pointing the CB antenna forward gives slightly increased range toward the front of the vehicle enabling the driver to hear bear reports (among other things) a little farther away. Granted, though, this is just what I "heard". May or may not be true. I point mine forward to look cool. 8)

I do hate the drivers that flash the high beams. It's just completely lazy and inconsiderate. Four-wheelers love to do this, but I can't understand why truckers do it. They should know better.

Trucks that jump out in front of a line of other vehicles is another pet peave. Not just slow trucks, but all trucks. They jump out there and don't give a damn that they're holding up a long line of other vehicles be it other trucks or cars. I always wait until it's clear before I jump out there, and no, I don't drive a 65-mph truck. It's just common courtesy. Something that seems to be in short supply these days. And, yes, I'm a young trucker too. 30 years old and only been driving for four years.
