I learned on a 1975 White Road Boss  , anybody remember these ? also my first company issued truck was a 1978 K100 c/o, sweet.
I was driving 10 years before I got my first hood.

I must be too new school because I really don't get the affection so many drivers have for trucks with great big long front ends. I really don't like the looks of them. They also make you work harder than you need to when turning and backing. The fuel mileage also stinks. I just don't see any advantages to having a long nose tractor. My 387 is stylish, has plenty of room inside, gets decent fuel economy, turns great, is easy to back, and there isn't a great big exhaust stack on each side that could potentially block my vision. Different strokes for different folks.

Sweet, roadhog!
Much as they are quite the buggers on the road, I love the Moose!

I would say the 379, not because of the looks but because it is a proven, solid, reliable truck; the 387 is still new and has bugs.

Also, i would not get an extended hood verison of it.

You have to remember that a lot of these guys drive with the Jakes on all the time "because it sounds cool."

OK my ten cent's, the Pete is low and long cow haulers ride them for that reason, stability on gravel back roads in snow and ice. Plus I know two drivers that are a live today because they put the driver inside the frame, it's called safety, they can be hell, in some farmers yards and crowned gravel roads. Log haulers use kw and western stars, I have also seen that new Volvo that looks like a star in the woods to. high of the ground to get in and out of the Forrest over the ruts and stumps, same goes for the oil patch. If you want looks and ride plus a good price, try the new star L series truck, or the mack rawhide, these trucks come right from the factory for a lot less than a Pete or a freight.
